Think about it. During the primaries, She would hammer him on his failures. If he got the Dem nod he would then get hammered on his failures by the republican candidate. The Sec. of State position is usually a no win job where one takes a lot of hits. Obama's foreign policy has been poor, though there have been no blatantly obvious catastrophes - yet. That said, nearly every wrong step has been taken by some other Obama appointee. Instead of letting Clinton be the one to bumble, Obama has shut her out of many instances where the Sec. of State would normally take a leading role. Indeed, the first time I have seen her still around and talking about a burning foreign policy issue happening now was Egypt. At any rate, Obama has been, I think, too clever by half. By trying to shut Hillary out of the limelight, he has protected her from any criticism for all of his foreign missteps. Hillary is going to come out of the Sec. of State position relatively unscathed if all things continue as they have the past two years. And she will be his only real competition.GWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05814327154035433443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5108463567672522750.post-87710025546855155552011-02-16T16:56:05.172-06:002011-02-16T16:56:05.172-06:00Very good analysis DS. I can hardly wait for the internecine liberal political bloodletting to begin.

That said, I am concerned whether the old line Republican establishment will look past their de facto seniority system and realize there are a number of young Turks in the party that are more likely to energize the voters than old line retreads. And, I say that as a member of the same generation of the old line Republican leadership. It's time for Republicans to step up with some new, bold thinkers and doers. There is plenty of room for the old heads to assume advisory positions in the next Republican administration.Robert Janickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16991356257139797619noreply@blogger.com
