"Eric Holder, quite possibly the worst United States Attorney General in modern political history, was the BBQ entre' of the day, as he was slow 'grilled' by the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. 

Holder was interrogated by committee members over a wide range of issues. Holder's theme for the day could be likened to Hogan's Heroes character Sgt. Schultz and his famous retort of, "I know notheeeng" when questioned by Col. Klink or others in dicey situations.

AG Holder essentially told the House committee 57 times that "I know nothing" or some very close variation, when questioned on a variety of issues. Holder's performance was simply shameful for the nation's highest ranked law enforcement officer. This must have been Holder's idea of "Don't ask, don't tell." since he wasn't telling anyone, anything of consequence.

Holder's performance was just his riff on Obama's standard operating practice. Obama, when confronted with a difficult and knotty question, will fall back on the same response or, as Holder did, claim he cannot respond to questions involving ongoing investigations. This pretty much eliminates everything from the daily weather report to who is winning Dancing With The Stars to every serious issue of the day."

Words evolve. They take on new meaning over the years. Social and political movements appropriate certain words, redefine them, and then use them to shape the ideological battlefield. The classic example of that, of course, is "bolshevik" and "menshevik." The Bolsheviks were, in fact, the Mensheviks and vice-versa. The word bolshevik, derived from the word meaning "majority," was appropriated by the radicals who were in reality the minority of the old Social Democratic party. The minority labeled the majority the minority and got away with it. Clever. There are many other examples of this in history such as the insistence on calling nazis and fascists right-wing when they are clearly left-wing products.

 In our once great, still beloved, but evermore daft United States, precisely those who are not liberal, as in broad minded and generous, in their attitudes towards others have appropriated "liberal" as theirs. The political philosophy of this "liberalism" is one which portrays life as a series of problems that needs addressing by the state--the state guided and run, mind you, by the "well-educated liberal elite" produced by our increasingly decrepit "liberal" universities and informed by "liberal" Hollywood and "liberal" Big Media. Modern U.S. liberals are a variant of European social democrats who believe in a big state and mistrust the individual; the big difference being that US liberals have much more power in the world than their European co-religionists ever could hope. They advocate the "positivist" attitude so aptly summed up in the motto emblazoned on the national flag of Brazil, "Ordem e Progresso," so long, of course, as they are in charge of imposing the order and defining the progress. 

They take positivism's emphasis on rational thought and logic, and its opposition to superstition and fantasy, and turn it on its head into a "science-based" fantasy that somehow just so happens to lead to more power for them and their state. Global climate change is one stirling example of how liberals have taken a legitimate scientific-based concern over pollution, and turned it into a monumental hoax, known as Manmade Climate Change. That hoax somehow, just somehow ends up demanding more money and power for--guess who?--the liberals and their state. The song may say you only hurt the one you love, but in politics you hurt the one who gives you nightmares and Marco Rubio makes democrats wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat screaming at the top of their progressive lungs. Anybody who articulates conservatism as well as Rubio, who ties it to the American dream and presents it as the best hope for the average Joe in this country would frighten the Democrats. Rubio however, has two other significant and fear inducing things going for him.

First of all he is of Cuban decent, and being Hispanic means (to liberals) he is supposed to be on the their side. Progressives like to place people in groups, it makes it easier for them to take away their humanity and individualism. By destroying their neat and pretty picture of an Hispanic, Rubio scares the progressives.

 Rubio's other threat is that he lives in a swing state with 29 electoral votes, 11% of the total needed to become president (270). Obviously that is a major chunk of electoral college votes (that went to Obama in 08 & 2012).

Put it all together and one realizes that the progressives are "scream for mommy in the middle of the night" frightened about the Florida Senator, which is way beginning with last October rumors began to spread about him that he wasn't really a "natural born US citizen."

It is the contention of these nut-jobs that because Rubio's parents were not yet Citizens of the US when the future politician was born, he is not a natural born US Citizen.

 Now the Democratic smear machine is making hay about the fact that Marco Rubio used to be a Mormon. Rubio was baptized into the Mormon church when he was 8 and “remained active in the faith for a number of years,” attending LDS youth groups and walking to church most Sundays. Rubio left Mormonism to become a Catholic “a few years later,” and he got his first Communion when he was 13, in 1984.

 Just like the "natural born citizen" questions raised ,the real issue is the thought of a conservative, Cuban-American from Florida on a GOP ticket gives the progressives nightmares. Just as they tried to do with Sarah Palin four years ago, the progressives are going to do their best to destroy Marco Rubio. The question is, will we let them!

There’s a country called the United States on a planet Earth that is going through a political battle.

Basically, the country has two major ruling parties. The democrats want the government to be as big as possible, running everyone’s lives from “womb to tomb,” transferring as many responsibilities as possible to the collective. They do this by confiscating revenue that the people have earned.

The republicans claim to want the government as small as possible, letting people run their own lives as much as possible, keeping their own money and taking on their own responsibilities. Many times the republicans have been in power, yet, the government is still a behemoth that is completely out of money.

The United States just reelected a president who has spent more money that he doesn’t have at a rate that exceeds the amount the 43 other presidents spent… combined.

The amount of money being proposed for spending, plus the debt that they admit that they already accrued, plus the amount of money that has been promised through what they call entitlements, exceeds all of the wealth of the entire planet combined.

The republicans want some serious talk about pruning the size of the government. Meanwhile the democrats blame this problem on the people who already foot most of the bill already. They say they “aren’t paying their fair share.” Even if they took every earned penny from these people being scapegoated it wouldn’t make a dent towards the money the democrats are spending. Interestingly, most of the people who are largely responsible for electing this president do not pay into the system, but they expect a big payout. It’s called “fairness.”

So, I am hearing from people like Frank Luntz, and others, that Obama won over voters because he ran a negative, mean and nasty campaign, and campaign ads filled with lies ... and Romney lost because he didn't. I thought in the last few elections we have been told the American people didn't want any part of negative campaigning. Which is it, huh ... because I really am fed up with the moving of the goal posts every election on this reasoning?

This is hard enough, but it appears as if all sanity is gone. Really, Florida?Rep. Allen West may possibly be out of the House.

The deaths of over 110 people and billions in destruction was just friggin great for Obama, according to Chris Matthews. Number 1: Conservatives Are RAAACIST homophobic Islamaphobic xenophobic misogynists. No commas, probably should use hyphens, though, as that’s the breathless, said-as-one-word description of us that they have in their tiny little brains. Wrapped up in this, of course, is the sense that we are drooling idiots who hate everyone who is unlike ourselves, toothless rednecks who shoot “others” on sight, a Bible-thumping God Squad intent on white supremacist isolationism. And they believe it. The “nuance” crowd, our supposed intellectual betters, have zero problem painting with broad brush every single conservative (though of course they are loathe to be so-stereotyped themselves).

I’ve thought about this post a lot, knowing it was coming, and have contemplated how I’ll approach it (a Fuzzy Rant seems so obviously in order, ya know?). I settled on a focus on the mindset behind it rather than debunking (yet again) the idiocy of this belief. After all, we know that we are not any of those things, with the possible exception of being Islamaphobic (that old “it’s not paranoia if ‘they’ really are out to get you” saw may be applicable here). But it’s hardly going to be a complete post without at least mentioning the flaws on the face of that assumption, right?

Before I do that, though, I want to take a few moments (paragraphs) to examine leftist “thought.......”

A Word to the Daily Poll Watchers

"I am not much of a poll watcher until after the debates when the candidates have had their last big shot at appealing to voters. The winner and loser does not usually become solidified until then. There is no point in paying much attention to polling prior to the debates accept to analyze the successes and failures of the respective campaigns. Even that is more of a concern for the campaigns themselves, but the polls around this time can show candidates’ supporters which way they need to prod their guy towards victory.

 For whatever influence said supporters actually have. I am in deep red South Carolina where Mitt Romney cannot lose and Barack Obama cannot win. Neither one o them cares what anyone in the palmetto state thinks. Perhaps you are in the same bright red or blue situation. The circumstances do give you a certain distance from the election as a whole. The primaries are the last close up glimpse of the presidential race we get remember Newt Gingrich running away with South Carolina/ That was a long time ago. With that in mind, appreciate high emotions regarding the campaign have given way to detached observation of reality in everything else I am going to write here.

Embrace the fact that polls are largely accurate. Romney and Obama are virtually tied in the national polls. National polls are a soft indicator, however. It is the swing state polls that really matter in a relatively even matched election like this one, and those show Obama with an advantage. Stop claiming that the methodology is biased or looking at ’alternate polls that show who really is in the lead.....look at the facts instead."

Dionne says that if the Court overturns any part of Obamacare, “we will need a fearless conversation about how a conservative majority of the court has become a cog in a larger right-wing project to make progressive political and legislative victories impossible.” James Fallows says that “the Roberts majority is barreling ahead without regard for the norms, and it is taking the court’s legitimacy with it.” Yale law professor Akhil Amar thinks the proper outcome is so obvious that if even four justices disagree with him then the Court must be a sham—and he takes it personally. “If they decide this by 5-4,” he told Ezra Klein, “then yes, it’s disheartening to me, because my life was a fraud. Here I was, in my silly little office, thinking law mattered, and it really didn’t. What mattered was politics, money, party, and party loyalty.” Other examples abound this week.

 It would be easy to criticize all this for its sheer unselfconscious lack of seriousness: These people are actually saying that any outcome except the one they want must be driven by an outcome-oriented political crusade. Only their view could result from an actual engagement with the question before the Court, and any other view could only be a function of corruption or of cynicism.
