Lyin' Brian Blames Conservative Media for Mistrust of Establish Media

NewsBusters - In another hilarious case of irony, MSNBC's 'The 11th Hour'  host and serial liar Brian Williams teed up guest Charlie Sykes on Tuesday to lambaste conservative media (like the one you’re reading) for being why no one trusts mainstream media in the age of Trump and alternative facts.

Sykes and Williams offered no arguments or examples of how the establishment media have torpedoed their own credibility with false stories and a decidedly liberal slant. Instead, it was an exclusive attack on conservatives for supposedly enabling President Trump to offer misstatements without consequences.

Wiliams welcomed Sykes after his “provocative” Sunday column in The New York Times, which sent liberals swooning. Williams read the following excerpt from the piece entitled “Why nobody cares the President is lying”:

"The cumulative effects of attacks [on the mainstream media] was to delegitimize those outlets and essentially destroy much of the right’s immunity to false information. We thought we were creating a savvier, more skeptical audience. Instead, we opened the door for President Trump, who found an audience that could be easily misled."

Overall, the former conservative host stated that his “concern is not just that's Trump is lying” but “it's an attack on the concept of the truth itself — of credibility and my main concern is that you'll have millions of voters at some point who will basically say, "what is truth?"

Failing to realize that he’s joined an echo-chamber in which Manhattan elites sit around reading The New York Times and The New Yorker while watching The Daily Show, Sykes knocked anyone supporting Trump as "picking the facts that confirm our bias, that support our guy and ignore the facts that don't support our guy. And then we're in a very, very, you know, dangerous place for democracy," he surmised.

Trump Election a 'Wake Up Call For the Media

Donald Trump's electoral victory took some Americans by surprise, but perhaps none were as stunned as the liberal news media. MRC Vice President of Culture and Business Dan Gainor called Trump’s win a “full on repudiation of the elites in news and entertainment” who “act like nothing goes on in the rest of America.” He appeared on Fox Business Network’s Intelligence Report Nov. 9.

“I think it should be a wakeup call for the media. They’re tied into this New York, LA, DC axis, and they act like nothing goes on in the rest of America. “They don’t wanna cover people in their faith, they don’t wanna cover people in their jobs, they don’t wanna cover the impact of these climate regulations, how they’re devastating coal states across the country,”

After Trump won the election liberals in both the news media and Hollywood had a collective meltdown. ABC’s Martha Raddatz got choked up as she bashed Trump, Andrea Mitchell claimed “history put on hold yet again,” and celebrities whined about wanting to puke over the election results.

Alex Pareene, editor of Deadspin, an off-shoot of the sewer media 'Gawker', unleashed an extended diatribe in reaction to the election of Donald Trump Wednesday: 

"Blame white people. Blame white men in particular, but reserve plenty of blame for white women. Blame old people...Blame rich people, as always. Blame the public...for Donald fucking Trump getting more votes than Donald Duck....Blame the Founders for enshrining white supremacy in our constitution and making it nearly impossible to fully expunge. Blame a political system that advantages rural areas at the expense of urban ones, mostly in order to preserve our white supremacist heritage."

Blame the deep-seated misogyny of the...conservative press, which—with a clutch assist from much of the mainstream press—caused a politician who is calculating and ambitious in mostly ordinary ways to be perceived as a conniving Lady Macbeth, while somehow allowing a man with an incredibly well-documented history of chauvinism, harassment, and outright sexual abuse to pawn it off as regular, if slightly old-fashioned, alpha masculinity....."

Washington Post media blogger Erik Wemple grabbed a quick interview with NBC News president Andrew Lack at the first presidential debate at Hofstra University. Lack predictably talked up Brian Williams and his new show The 11th Hour as "off to a nice start." Actually, Williams is losing in the key 25-54 demo to CNN's Don Lemon. Worse yet, both CNN and MSNBC are trounced by an O'Reilly Factor rerun on Fox.

But Lack tried to claim the serial-exaggeration scandal that forced Williams out of his NBC Nightly News anchor chair last year was already "ancient history".

The blog Inside Cable News disagreed with Lack's "ancient history" spin, criticizing NBC: 

"It chose to bury the story rather than do what CBS did with the Thornburgh report which did a complete and very public number on Rathergate". 

A Matt Lauer interview only compounded things." 

“I told the story correctly for years before I told it incorrectly. I was not trying to mislead people. That, to me, is a huge difference here.”

Lauer pushed back: 

“But wait a second, you say, ‘I was not trying to mislead people,’ but I need to make sure we understand each other here. Did you know when you went on Nightly News that you were telling a story that was not true?” 

Again, Williams denied intentional dishonesty: 

"I never intended to. It got mixed up. It got turned around in my mind.”

When asked whether Williams had left behind some unfinished business in that Lauer interview, Lack responded, “Ancient history to me.”

This "ancient history" spin from NBC is a also a little strange coming from a network whose newscast is still broadcasting hyperbole about "Bridgegate Bombshells."

CNN Host Called For U.S. Flag Bearer at Olympics 

to Step Aside for Muslim Fencer

PJM - The host of the CNN show "United Shades of America" called on Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, to forgo the honor of carrying the American flag at the head of the American delegation and allow a Muslim female fencer to carry it instead.

Kamau Bell penned a column on the CNN website saying that Phelps should withdraw in the name of "diversity."

“What I’m trying to say is that as far as America is concerned, you are a golden boy … literally. You getting the opportunity to carry the flag is like Michael Jordan getting a free pair of Nike sneakers.

You are both the living embodiment of the “honor” you are getting.

To put it another way, in the Make-Your-Own-Ice-Cream-Sundae-Bar of life, your sundae is lousy with hot fudge, butterscotch, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, extra scoops of ice cream, and so many Maraschino cherries that 5-year-old kids with mouthfuls of Maraschino cherries yell as you pass by, “THAT’S TOO MANY CHERRIES!” 

And that’s why I would be proud of you for giving up your position to Ibtihaj Muhammad. Muhammad carrying the flag would be much bigger than your one moment. 

It would be a symbol for our country in this moment when we are mostly known for one of the most contentious, controversial, scandal-ridden, hateful, xenophobic, jingoistic, and just generally unlikeable presidential elections in recent memory. This is at a time when we could use some more symbols of unity and togetherness.

Muhammad carrying the flag would be nearly a one-stop inclusion shop. Muhammad is an African-American, hijab-wearing Muslim woman who is also a world class fencer. Those are all groups that could always use some more love, acceptance, and respect from this country. (And yes, I'm including fencers in this group.)

If (when) Muhammad carries the flag, that moment (and Muhammad herself) would grow into legend. We're talking bigger than just the Olympics.

Trying to unravel the skein of idiocy that runs through the entire article is a task for which I'm not suited.

John Kerry Still Undecided Whether Islamic State Atrocities are Genocide

Singling out a group to murder, kidnap, rape, sell into slavery and destruction of their places of worship, Genocide?......Guess it takes some deep though, eh John?

WASHINGTON - The Obama administration is nearing a decision on whether to formally declare that Islamic State group atrocities against religious minorities, including Christians, constitute "genocide." Kerry must weigh whether the Islamic State group's targeting of Christians and other minorities meets the legal definition of "genocide," which is "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group," according to the U.N. Convention. Kerry denied reports that his legal advisers were reluctant to support a determination of genocide but suggested he was not satisfied with their initial opinions.

I guess this is what we get from a government run by lawyers and an administration that refuses to use the term"Radical Islam"as not to upset anyone. Far be it from us to call a bunch of uncivilized murderous Neanderthals the bad guys and purveyors of genocide before getting the OK from the legal department. ISIS might get mad and not like us....

It's OK to Pollute, If It's In The Name of Green Energy

 The Ivanpah solar project burns enough natural gas to be required to take
part in the state's Cap and Trade program to reduce emissions.  

Just goes to show, if there are cronies to enrich, more Government control and a left wing agenda to forward, conservation and  environmentalism mean very little, if anything. .

A solar power plant at the center of the Obama administration’s push to reduce America’s carbon footprint by using millions of taxpayer dollars to promote green energy has its own carbon pollution problem.

The Ivanpah plant in the Mojave Desert uses natural gas as a supplementary fuel. Data from the California Energy Commission show that the plant burned enough natural gas in 2014 – its first year of operation – to emit more than 46,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

That’s nearly twice the pollution threshold for power plants or factories in California to be required to participate in the state’s cap-and-trade program to reduce carbon emissions.

The same amount of natural gas burned at a conventional power plant would have produced enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 17,000 California homes – or roughly a quarter of the Ivanpah plant’s total electricity projection for 2014.

The plant, which was developed by Oakland-based BrightSource Energy, was approved in 2010 amid questions about its cost to taxpayers and the facility’s effect on the desert environment.

The U.S. Department of Energy granted Ivanpah $1.6 billion in loan guarantees. As a green-energy project, it also qualified for more than $600 million in federal tax credits.

Just before the project broke ground, President Barack Obama praised it in his weekly radio address:

"With projects like this one, and others across this country, we are staking our claim to continued leadership in the new global economy. And we’re putting Americans to work producing clean, home-grown American energy that will help lower our reliance on foreign oil and protect our planet for future generations."

And former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar freed up large expanses of public land for the plant despite environmentalists’ concerns about wildlife habitat and the loss of open space.

David Lamfrom, desert project manager of the National Parks Conservation Association, said information about the amount of natural gas used at Ivanpah shows that the plant is essentially a hybrid operation that requires both fossil fuel and sunshine to make electricity.

He said he doubts the project would have gone forward if it had been billed a hybrid plant.

“It feels like a bait and switch,” Lamfrom said. “This project was held up as a model of innovation. We didn’t sign up for greener energy. We signed up for green energy.” 

Heavy Hand of Government Poised to Strike Again

To comply with the 2005 Real ID Act, citizens in a number of U.S. states will now be forced to obtain a passport if they want to board an airplane....Even for domestic flights.

Starting in 2016, travelers from five U.S. states - Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, and Wisconsin will not be able to use their driver’s licenses as ID to board domestic flights.

The website of Department of Homeland Security explains fives states are “noncompliant jurisdictions” meaning that to board an aircraft, you will need a passport.  That's a pretty major development considering a majority of Americans don’t have passports.

"Secure driver’s licenses and identification documents are a vital component of our national security framework. The REAL ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, enacted the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the Federal Government ‘set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver’s licenses. The purposes covered by the Act are: accessing Federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants, and, no sooner than 2016, boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft." 

The Real ID act has been controversial since its initial proposal over ten years ago and is seen by many as a massive violation of privacy. One of the primary reasons it has taken the government so long to roll this program out is that the program is wildly unpopular and creates heavy backlash every time it appears in the news.

Let's put this in perspective: take a hypothetical traveler from Louisiana who is....let's say 78, and has difficulty getting around (we'll call him Mr. Boudreau ). Let’s suppose that Mr. Boudreau wants to fly to South Carolina to visit relatives. The government has no compunction what so ever about requiring him first to make a trip to a federal facility that accepts passport applications and, to add insult to injury cough up the $110 processing fee to obtain a U.S. passport.

And I might remind you these same government types object strenuously to the law in Louisiana that requires Mr. Boudreau to have a photo ID to vote, which the state is more than happy to provide at no charge.

Obama’s Labor Day Diatribe Just More Economic BS

I wish I could say that I’m surprised with President Obama’s Labor Day diatribe but I’d be lying if I said that. If people haven’t noticed by now, 2 of President Obama’s dominant character traits are his love of NBA-style trash-talking and his inability to resist bragging up his pathetic economic policies. Simply put, he’s a legend in his own mind. He’s also a confirmed liar.

Part of the freshest proof that he’s a confirmed liar is when he said “The fact is the verdict is in: Middle-class economics works.” Mr. President, that isn’t a fact. That’s an opinion. Actually, it’s an opinion that’s shared only within the farthest left part of the Democratic Party. Vice President Biden doesn’t even believe that. Mr. President, if  your “middle class economics” is working, why did your Vice President say that “the U.S. economy” was “devastating for workers”? Mr. President, if your “middle-class economics” work, why are the U.S. economic policies you’ve put in place producing the most anemic ‘sustained’ economic growth since the Great Depression?

This part of President Obama’s speech is exceptionally ironic:

"Unfortunately, there are some folks in Washington and some folks who are trying to get to Washington who don’t want to face these facts … in their world, the only way to help the country grow and help the country get ahead is to cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires."

"And then you just wait....you look up at the sky and prosperity will come raining down on us from whatever high rise is in your city. But that’s not how the economy works. These folks are pretty stubborn. I will give them credit. They don’t let facts or evidence get in the way."

Mr. President, why do you insist that your opponents “don’t let facts or evidence get in the way” of their economic arguments when it’s you that has ignored anemic GDP statistics and things like the Workforce Participation Rate, which is at its lowest rate in 38 years? If  your “middle-class economics” works, why are 94,000,000 people who normally would be in the workforce not looking for work?

The truth is that President Obama’s policies are failed policies. It’s time to stop this disaster. It’s time to implement pro-growth economic policies. It’s time to roll back 90% of the Obama administration’s job-killing regulations.

Obama still hasn’t admitted that you can’t be for a strong middle class and anti-job creators at the same time. 

On Earth Day, Remember Who Pollutes the Most....

And the greatest environmental disasters of the last century are all pretty much either directly as a result of government action or knock on effects of government action. Yet so many environmentalists continue to worship the state and it's big government regulatory powers. The greenies really need a wake-up call.

The US federal government is one of the largest, if not the largest, polluter on the planet. This pollution comes both directly, with government agencies directly harming environmental quality, and indirectly, with pollution-inducing policy. The US federal government has a long and often tragic history when it comes to environmental stewardship. 

This is partly because much of the environmental bureaucracy is almost wholly beyond the control of politicians and the general public. A case in point is the Department of the Interior, an agency designed to manage federal lands, which has provoked regular environmental scandals for more than 100 years. The agency has long been protected by little other the fact that it appears to be one of the most dull, uninteresting parts of the federal bureaucracy. Reforming the Interior Department is not an issue that a politician can easily campaign on. If anything, disrupting the many vested interests could cost more votes than it wins.

Or take the Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps, best known for its engineering projects such as levees and dams along rivers, and maintaining the nation’s harbors, has done more to destroy sensitive habitats than nearly any group, public or private, in the nation’s history. It has destroyed innumerable wetland areas in the name of channeling rivers like the Mississippi.  

Both direct damage and policy failures show that the federal government is no environmental angel. If anything, its misguided work can do more harm than good. That is not saying that private actors do not pollute, but at a minimum they are held accountable for the damage they cause. This rarely happens when the the federal government is at fault.

If you are opposed to abortion, this will be extremely disheartening and disturbing, if not worse.  

Planned Parenthood is anything but an agency helping women to plan for motherhood.  It would better be called by what it does and what it accomplishes, which is Planned Murder, Incorporated.  And this planned murder of defenseless fetuses is done with a taxpayer subsidy of almost a half billion dollars a year. 

To understand just how despicable and detestable are the practices of Planned Parenthood, one has to just view this video , which captures various Planned Parenthood facilities helping sex traffickers with instructions on how to get abortions for minor child sex slaves.  It's disgusting, but it illustrates the base nature and purpose of Planned Parenthood and their liberal supporters. 

It was  Margaret Sanger and her liberal white cohorts that embarked on their plan to eradicate, or at least reduce, those they felt were the dregs of society through planned genocide of unborn minorities and other groups that Sanger and her acolytes felt were subhuman or served no purpose other than to muddy the genetic gene pool.

Democrats' Campaign Finance Reform Irony

"If Republicans win control of both the House and Senate, 'the interests of billionaires will come before the needs of the middle class,' President Barack Obama said at a $32,500-a-plate fundraiser at the $16 million Greenwich, Connecticut, estate of a billionaire named (I'm not making this up) Rich Richman.

You can't top that remark for hypocrisy or the setting for irony. It isn't the middle class who write $32,500 checks. Those who do expect something in return. They've been getting it. ...

The top group of fundraisers for Mr. Obama raised $457,834 for his 2008 campaign -- and were approved for federal grants and loans of $11.4 billion, according to the Government Accountability Institute. Selling access to the federal treasury has been a great way for Democrats to raise campaign funds. Since 1989, according to an analysis by Gateway Pundit, big donors have provided $416 million more in direct contributions to Democrats than Republicans." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
