Saving the Culture from Modern Vandals

* Note to Reader: You may rest assured that this post, considering the subject matter, has been double checked by your blog editrix and found free of any and all offensive terms such as "monkey", etc....

By now, it’s become a parlor game: which movies, even from the recent past, could and would not be made today? “Blazing Saddles,” for sure, and perhaps even “Pulp Fiction,” for their relentless use of the “n-word.” Should the culture be denied Phoebe Cates’s magnificent bosom, which gave hope (however fantastic) to nerds across America that someday they too might actually see such wonders in the flesh. And they have already tried to kill Scarlett.

These days, the censorship comes almost exclusively from the perpetually outraged cultural-Marxist Left. Like their Soviet, Chinese, and Cambodian forebears, they cannot abide anything that does not conform to their world-view right this minute, and therefore must constantly update their “Index of Forbidden Books, Films, Words, and Cultural Artifacts.” As revolutionaries everywhere are want to do, they are hanging their parents and desecrating the graves and monuments of their ancestors. Because their zeal knows no bounds—because, by definition, too much zeal can never be enough—they are now set loose upon the past, the better to erase it so that a brave new world might be born.

Recall, if you will, that the World State’s motto in Aldous Huxley’s future dystopia is: “COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY.” Although first published in 1932, the work is even more timely now than it was in the period between the wars, all three words having taken on vastly different, and more sinister, shades of meaning in the interim. But you can’t hatch the New Socialist Man without breaking a few eggs, so what’s the loss of a few old, dead, cultural totems when set against the inclusive paradise that is sure to come?

The assault on the past—on the Western and American past—is something more than simple cultural vandalism.  The negation of the past—even of its own past—is something the Left must accomplish in order for it successfully to school the populace of the brave new world in the brave new ways. This puts the so-called cultural conservatives in a bind. The old bluenoses must now defend elements of the culture they might well have hated, and still do hate—but refusing to protect them is to align themselves, however unwittingly or unwillingly, with their mortal enemies on the Left. It’s all the more galling when you consider that the Left hid behind “free speech” when it was in their interest to goad the larger culture toward change, but now cannot abide “hate speech,” which is, when you stop to think about it, exactly the same thing.

If they can come for Mark Twain and Joseph Conrad, they can come for anybody. As the Chief Bromden says in the opening lines of Ken Kesey’s great novel, “They’re out there.” And they’re coming for you. So what are you going to do about it?

What Happens When The Liar’s Paradox Involves Multiple Liars

The Liar’s Paradox is logical exercise that asks what happens when you have a know liar, someone who never tells the truth, saying that they are lying. Handling the issue with one liar is hard enough. What happens if there are more than one?

On July 26, CNN ran this story by Jim Sciutto and Carl Bernstein: Cohen claims Trump knew in advance of 2016 Trump Tower meeting. It was sourced by their favorite guys, “sources with knowledge.” Presumably this is to distinguish them from CNN’s usual sources.

During the on air segment of the story, CNN reported that Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, had been asked to comment on the story but was “not available” for comment. This was sort of what it was until last week when Lanny Davis revealed that Michael Cohen had told both the House and Senate investigating committees that he had no idea if Trump had any foreknowledge of the Trump Tower meeting. Now it turns out that Davis was actually the source for CNN’s July story. So Davis is the source for a CNN scoop. Then he’s allowed to decline comment as a way of giving that dog’s breakfast an aura of fact checking. At no point did CNN identify him as a source. Now he says not only does Cohen not say Trump knew, but testified under oath to the contrary.

Yet CNN, as of this writing, has not retracted the story because...well an Apple is an Apple, No? This is why no sane person trusts any of the news organizations these days. What Jim Sciutto and Carl Bernstein engaged in was total and blatant fraud. CNN digging in to defend their corrupt reporting tells you all you need to know about whether CNN is a news organization or the propaganda shop for the antifa. And there is Lanny Davis. And there is Michael Cohen.

Which brings us back to the Liar’s Paradox. What is a person to do when you have four known and inveterate liars, telling contradictory stories, and claiming to be either telling the truth or telling the truth and lies?

Dems Likely to Go Full Clouseau in Event They Take Midterms

The Senate is more than likely to remain in safe hands of Republicans, the House, so much.  If the House was to fall to the Dems you can bet they will go full Inspector Clouseau and turn the works of their congressional committees into a three ring investigative circus, cheered on by their vengeful Publicity Department in the News Media. No doubt it will come, and according to Jonathan Swan of Axios, Congressional Republicans are getting ready for hell:
------------------------------------------------------
"Axios has obtained a spreadsheet that's circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill — including at least one leadership office — that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if they flip the House. Publicly, House Republicans are putting on a brave face about the midterms. But privately, they are scrambling to prepare for the worst."

"The spreadsheet includes requests for administration officials to be grilled by committee staff, requests for hearings to obtain sworn testimony, efforts to seize communications about controversial policies and personnel decisions, and subpoena threats. It catalogs more than 100 formal requests from House Democrats this Congress, spanning nearly every committee."

  • President Trump’s tax returns Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution's emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization
  • Trump's dealings with Russia, including the president's preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin
  • The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels
  • James Comey's firing
  • Trump's firing of U.S. attorneys
  • Trump's proposed transgender ban for the military
  • Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's business dealings
  • White House staff's personal email use
  • Cabinet secretary travel, office expenses, and other misused perks
  • Discussion of classified information at Mar-a-Lago
  • Jared Kushner's ethics law compliance
  • Dismissal of members of the EPA board of scientific counselors
  • The travel ban Family separation policy
  • Hurricane response in Puerto Rico
  • Election security and hacking attempts
  • White House security clearances

"These demands would turn the Trump White House into a 24/7 legal defense operation. Thanks to their control of Congress, Republicans have blocked most of the Democrats’ investigative requests. But if the House flips, the GOP loses its power to stymie. Lawyers close to the White House tell me the Trump administration is nowhere near prepared for the investigatory onslaught that awaits them, and they consider it among the greatest threats to his presidency."

America Will Be Dealing With Rot of Obama's Judicial Legacy for a Long Time to Come

The one lasting damaging legacy of Barack Obama will be his radical judicial appointees. This is again demonstrated in an article by George Neumayr @The American Spectator of 8/24. He writes of a first-hand account of a leftist judge appointed by Barack Obama exhorting new citizenship recipients to disrespect the very nation they were just bestowed with the privilege of becoming a legal citizen.
"A friend invited me to a citizenship ceremony in Brooklyn on Wednesday, held at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. I arrived around ten, assuming that I would witness the ceremony up close. But that’s no longer permitted, at least not in Brooklyn. The court’s charmless bureaucrats instead pen friends and family in a third floor room with a soundless television, through which the ceremony is beamed terribly. It is next to impossible to see anything and the absence of sound makes viewing pointless anyway.
Annoyed by this scene, which might as well have been a crummy airport lounge in a Third World country, I walked outside. I was told that the impossible-to-hear citizenship ceremony (for us) would wrap up around 11:30 or noon, at which point friends and family could greet the new Americans on the second floor as they streamed out of the court room. Out of sheer boredom, I decided to go down to the second floor early and could hear the judge bellowing at the newly sworn-in Americans through the closed door. A few other friends and family of new citizens had the same idea and we compared notes on the possible identity of the loudmouth judge.
Given Their Rightful Seat At The Table, Now They Choose
To Set The Table Legs On Fire.
“It is Judge LaShann DeArcy,” someone said. Her full name is LaShann Moutique DeArcy Hall. She is an Obama appointee, naturally, and she is astonishingly obnoxious. Talk about an entitled judicial activist, whose ego is as expansive as her name.
Her speech to the new citizens, to the extent that I could hear it, was appalling. Sounding like a Democratic Party ward boss, she urged the new citizens to vote as soon as humanly possible. She made voting sound like a tremulous act of self-defense against the country they had just joined. Then she started in on some ludicrous riff about the First Amendment, encouraging the new Americans to exercise that right as robustly as possible, including by “taking a knee.”
A product of Howard University, which is a conveyor belt for anti-American snots, Judge LaShann DeArcy is exceedingly full of herself, even more than the president who appointed her. In her glib “take a knee” rhetorical pyrotechnics, she showed no respect for the country to which she has taken an oath. Her pitch was outrageously at odds with the duties of a judge. For one thing, who asked her to give a long harangue to new citizens? When did that become a routine practice?....." READ MORE
So here we have a radical black federal court judge with a second rate law degree, who just turned a room full of foreign born into proud "legal" American citizens and her first piece of advice to them is to disrespect the nation, to boycott the American flag they have just been handed and consider themselves an "oppressed" class in some world-class chutzpah and classic nostalgie de la boue! What it shows is how distorted the idea of patriotism and citizenship is on the left that should not be infecting the judiciary, and so incredible to hear it in this piggish bigot in a robe instructions to America's newest citizens. This to me is infuriating as hell.

Dem's Exemplary Asshat Extraordinaire Declares DJT Has No Authority To Appoint Supremes

We figured we’ve seen just about every bit of nonsense the Dem's could muster from their tattered playbook, but then Chuck Schumer jumps out of the trees with more weird liberal political science. That constitutional stuff is hard.  So here is today’s news from the slowly desiccating senior brain trust of the opposition - Donald Trump no longer has the constitutional authority to nominate Justices to the Supreme Court.
CFP - The Senate Minority Leader on Tuesday attempted a double bank shot of claiming that Brett Kavanaugh shouldn’t be confirmed for the Supreme Court because Michael Cohen copped a guilty plea. Schumer chose the position he’s in and he can squirm in it every day as far as I’m concerned. Schumer is under intense pressure from the increasingly unhinged liberal base to do everything he can to stop Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed. In reality, there is nothing he can do and he knows it. But he has to act the part, and if that means grasping at absolutely ridiculous straws (no unusual feat for him), then damn it, that’s what he’s going to do.
Donald Trump no longer has the constitutional authority to nominate Justices to the Supreme Court? Who says? Not you, not me and certainly not the Constitution. But Chuck Schumer says it, not because he believes it, but because he has to say something to keep the barbarians from storming the gate, so why not?
"It is unseemly for the President of the United States to be picking a Supreme Court Justice who could soon be, effectively, a juror in a case involving the President himself,” Mr. Schumer declared, picking up a trope that has quickly become part of the liberal echo chamber. Senators Mazie Hirono (Hawaii) and Ed Markey (his own private Idaho) cancelled meetings with Judge Kavanaugh, with Mr. Markey saying he is now an “illegitimate” nominee.
So let’s see. Donald Trump is the elected President with the power of appointment under the Constitution, but because his former lawyer has pleaded guilty to evading taxes and paying off a couple of Mr. Trump’s alleged mistresses, Mr. Trump no longer enjoys the powers of the Presidency under Article II. This novel interpretation of presidential authority somehow eluded James Madison." - WSJ
This is not going to change a single vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and Schumer knows it. What’s more, Kavanaugh is not going to be a “jurist” in any criminal case involving Donald Trump. Schumer has a history of making declarations about process and principle that completely contradict previous statements he made on the exact same subjects, with the only variable being which party happens to be in power at the moment. He knows he contradicts himself and fears no consequences precisely because he knows the mainstream media will never call him on it. -  READ MORE
