This goes out to all who no longer have Mothers to put arms around. A simple song of remembrance that has become very dear to me. I apologize in advance for any possible goosebumps or moist eyes that may occur. 

Little did I know when I met these young ladies many years ago at a recording studio in Huntington Cal. that they would become such stars of their generation. These are the sister known as 'Haim'.

This day I give you a small taste of a collaboration between two amazing musicians, Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer. This two part tune is from their very eclectic 1974 album that has come to be one of my favorite LP's of all time from that period. From "Like Children" this is 'Giving in Gently / I wonder.'

Here is a short track from a very uniquely talented, multi-disciplined musician named 'Bruce Zisis Maginnis'. This tune, from his 4th record and like his previous 3 offerings that include the excellent  'Emotive Piano' and 'Jazz Vault', explores a total different genre of music than the previous effort. This time he leans into the music of the Old South. From his newest offering"Borderlands" this is a haunting little tune titled "Misty Mountain".

Here I give you another track that in my opinion is denied any justice at all from the horrible MP4 format of YT.  It's a beautifully recorded and engineered piece titled 'Aqua Marine' from a lesser known 1979 Santana album 'Marathon'.

I would suspect this tune has played during more than its share of baby conception practice sessions over the years.......

From 'Stephen Stills' 1991 acoustic album 'Stills Alone', here is what was to become a college underground radio station classic - 'Treetop Flyer'.

Another choice morsel drawn from your Beloved Blog Editrix's personal digs, I give you a track from Brian Auger's Oblivion Express titled 'Compared To What' from his 1973 album 'Closer to It!'.  It's one of my favorite records from this genre and has special significance to me, but I will not confess now or ever that it's because it happened to be permeating the atmosphere in beautiful 2 channel stereo the first time I ever got high.

Sunday Soothingness

For your Sunday Soothingness, I present another choice morsel drawn from your Blog Editrix's personal digs. I must say I was pleasantly surprised the name "Otis Spann" came up in the comments of the MFST post below.  Not many people outside of Music School Jazz/Blues academia or hardcore Blues Aficionados would know the name.  Spann was an unsung but much respected session man who spent much of his career tickling the ivories for Muddy Waters, whose keyboard style initial hit me as a kinda laid back Oscar Peterson.

Here I give you the tune "Temperature is Rising" from 1969's 'The Biggest Thing Since Colossus', done with a little help from three of those Fleetwood Mac fellows.
