Safe and Secure in the Hands of a Woman

by D.C. McAllister

Hillary Clinton told an audience in Chicago last week that the “great unfinished business of this century” is the creation of more opportunities for women. One can almost hear the gears turning in her head as she eyes the presidency in 2016.

What greater opportunity for a woman than to be president of the United States, and what greater chance for Americans to be redeemed from a sexist past than to elect the first female president?

To a crowd of adoring fans at the Clinton Global conference, Clinton chose her words purposely, planting seeds in the minds of the American public that what our country needs is a woman to lead the way into a fuller, brighter, and safer future:

"When women participate in peacemaking and peacekeeping, we are safer and more secure, and when women participate in politics, the effects ripple throughout society."
The focus on gender politics is obvious, but notice that Clinton doesn’t veer into the typical war-on-women talking points. She doesn’t highlight wage disparity or reproductive rights; instead, she broadens her scope with the lofty and timely language of peace. Her message, however, isn’t one of peace through strength or individual responsibility, but of security and, above all, safety. These are the “effects” of a feminized culture that have rippled throughout society, and these are the values Democrats will exploit in 2014 and 2016.

This is particularly true in light of current scandals that have exposed how a bloated and unaccountable government can violate the rights and liberties of American citizens. The Democrats momentarily found themselves on the defensive, but no longer. They’ve turned the tide by changing the focus of the controversy, twisting it back on the right. The problem is no longer the threat of big government to American privacy and freedom, but libertarian and conservative “paranoid extremists” who don’t trust government to keep us safe and secure.

Clinton has gotten the message, and she’s going to run with it: we live in dangerous times and our enemies hide in shadows, so we need to trust our government to do anything it can to keep us safe and secure. And who better to protect us, to make our country safe, to gather us up like chicks under her wing than a woman? Isn’t that what women do best? Nurture, promote peace, soothe the savage beast of man? Who better to guide us into an era of peace and security than the softer sex? Who better than Hillary Clinton?

The race for the presidency in 2016 has already begun. What strategy should conservatives employ in this climate of fear and gender politics? What is the conservative answer to Americans who are willing to sacrifice their liberty for security and to elect a woman as president simply because they believe they owe it to her?

And lets not forget she was named the Most Powerful Women in American History -D.S.

The Other Side of the Sword - Damage Done by the NSA Leaks

In part from The Free Beacon
"Jihadist websites urged terrorists to change passwords and shift communications to more secure means following the recent disclosure of the National Security Agency’s electronic surveillance of the Internet, according to U.S. officials.
Postings monitored by U.S. intelligence agencies called for the changes in online communications and are the first sign of potential damage caused by the publication of the NSA’s large-scale program to monitor Internet traffic through major U.S. data companies.
The once top-secret program known as PRISM was disclosed by NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who said he exposed the program as infringing on Americans’ civil liberties....."
"The al Qaeda-affiliated, open-access website Ansar al Mujahidin posted several messages earlier this week expressing concern and urging terrorists to seek more secure electronic communications outlets. Terrorists were critical of the Ansar al Mujahidin website administrators for not doing enough to warn members to the monitoring danger.
One jihadist identified as “Abu Muizz” stated that the NSA program is “very dangerous” as it can access email, chats, stored data, voice transfers, and social networking data. The program was a serious threat to jihadist media groups working through Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites.
In a troubling sign, the jihadist posted links to documents on the PRISM program. That is likely to allow terrorists to avoid or limit monitoring of Internet communications.
A second jihadist urged members of the al Qaeda forum to use software called Tor that can mask online identities and avoid discussing jihadist topics in online voice exchanges. Another jihadist urged terrorists to use Jitsi, a software program that allows secure video and audio calls and another software called MorphVOX that can mask voices.
The website also included, in an indication that al Qaeda is reacting to the NSA disclosures, illustrations for secure communications from a person who is a member of the closed al Qaeda website Shumukh al-Islam.
Jihadists on Twitter also urged fellow terrorists to avoid using Windows and shift to Linux. One posting said Microsoft had become “one of the CIA’s most dangerous tools” for countering terrorists...."

On the President's Claim He Knew Nothing of the IRS Targeting Conservative Groups:

"Almost half of Americans say President Barack Obama isn’t telling the truth when he says he didn’t know the Internal Revenue Service was giving extra scrutiny to the applications of small government groups seeking tax-exempt status.

"Forty-seven percent of Americans say they don’t believe Obama compared with 40 percent who say he is being truthful, according to a Bloomberg National Poll of 1,002 adults.

"More than half of political independents -- 53 percent -- say Obama’s explanation that he learned it from media reports is untrue, while 34 percent say they believe him.

America, Meet Our New Syrian Rebel Allies

Talk Straight:

When a 14-year-old boy from the Syrian city of Aleppo named Mohammad Qatta was asked to bring one of his customers some coffee, he reportedly refused, saying, “Even if [Prophet] Mohammed comes back to life, I won’t.”
According to a story reported by two grassroots Syrian opposition groups, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Aleppo Media Center, Qatta’s words got him killed. A group of Islamist rebels, driving by in a black car, reportedly heard the exchange. They stopped the car, grabbed the boy and took him away.
Qatta, in refusing to serve a customer coffee – it’s not clear why – had used a phrase that the Islamist rebels took as an insult toward the Prophet Mohammed, the most important figure in Islam. That offhand comment, made by a boy, was apparently enough for these rebels to warrant a grisly execution and public warning.
The rebels, according to ABC News’ reconstruction of the Syrian groups’ reports, appear to have whipped Qatta. When they brought him back to where they’d taken him, his head was wrapped by a shirt.
The rebels waited for a crowd to gather; Qatta’s parents were among them. Speaking in classical Arabic, they announced that Qatta had committed blasphemy and that anyone else who dared insult the Prophet Mohammed would share his fate. Then, the shirt still wrapped around the boy’s head, the rebels shot him in the mouth and neck.
As Islamist groups continue to take territory in the Syrian civil war, more Syrians are coming under the control of armed extremists who enforce an austere and sometimes violent version of sharia law. The Washington Post’s Liz Sly has reported on other such punishments in Aleppo, where the al-Qaeda-allied group Jabhat al-Nusra is thought to lead the newly established sharia enforcement authority.
Such incidents are a sign of the rise of extremism within a rebel movement that began, over two years ago, largely unified behind the goals of ousting President Bashar al-Assad and establishing democracy.
Say hello to your new allies, courtesy of Barack Obama-the most inept, naive American President we have ever seen.

Mr. Orwell, Please Pick Up The White Courtesy Phone...

Matthew's Weekend Commentary

The handsome devil to the left is one Eric Arthur Blair, better known to the world as George Orwell.

Mr. Orwell was the author of some of the greatest anti-authoritarian novels of all time. Books like 1984 and Animal Farm will stand the test of time as classics, and he was also an accomplished essayist, book reviewer, and journalist. Orwell, despite the fact that he was a Socialist, is one of my heroes.

As if that were a secret? I only bust out an Orwell reference about every thirty seconds, sometimes.

He’s a hero to me because, unlike most writers of his day -- a good many of whom are given the honorific of ‘great’ for little to no reason beyond that they appeal to pansy academics -- he dared to speak the truth, plainly and as he saw it. He did not apologize for his political positions, but did do his best to convince you of their veracity and utility with a command of the language that has been matched by very few. Compared to Orwell, in terms of the use of the English language, Shakespeare was a drooling idiot.

I was reminded of George, again, as soon as the scale of recent Obama Administration Scandals (hereafter OAS, for brevity's sake) was made public. Or rather, I should say, that at least what anyone is wiling to tell us with regards to OAS, because I don't believe we'll be getting anything close to a full reckoning on any of it until Barack Obama is safely enjoying a lavish retirement paid for with stolen money in France, with the rest of the deposed African tin-pot dictators.

Anyways, the whole sordid mess spawned this particular headline which is both hysterically funny, and all-too-sad:

Sales of 1984 rise 6,000% overnight after news of NSA Scandal Breaks.

For the benefit of those of you who went to public school, or who grew up waiting for books to become movies, I'll explain why that is a such a shocking headline.......
