My Favorite Liberal has a Warning....

Although I have to look past her sickening admission she once dated former NY congressman Anthony Wiener, Kirsten Powers’ op-ed exemplifies why she’s my favorite liberal:

"In a recent interview with The New Republic, President Obama was back to his grousing about the one television news outlet in America that won’t fall in line and treat him as emperor. Discussing breaking Washington’s partisan gridlock, the president told TNR, "If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News…for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it.”
Alas, the president loves to whine about the media meanies at Fox News. To him, these are not people trying to do their jobs. No, they are out to get him. What other motive could a journalist have in holding a president accountable? Why oh why do Ed Henry and Chris Wallace insist on asking hard questions? Make them stop!"
President Obama has gotten adulation from the Agenda Media since before he’d been elected to the Senate. Books have been written about the media’s slobbering love affair with President Obama. Still, that isn’t enough for the messiah.

Anything less than constant adoration isn’t acceptable with this administration. Here’s a warning from Ms. Powers that liberals should pay attention to:

"Whether you are liberal or conservative, libertarian, moderate or politically agnostic, everyone should be concerned when leaders of our government believe they can intentionally try to delegitimize a news organization they don’t like.
In fact, if you are a liberal, as I am, you should be the most offended, as liberalism is founded on the idea of cherishing dissent and an inviolable right to freedom of expression.
That more liberals aren’t calling out the White House for this outrageous behavior tells you something about the state of liberalism in America today."
Whether it’s fascists implementing ‘speech codes’ on college campuses or whether it’s the fascist staff in the White House, the result is the same: censorship.

There’s no such thing as acceptable censorship.

This is particularly appalling information:

"What the Obama administration is doing, and what liberals are funding at MMFA is beyond chilling – it’s a deep freeze.
On the heels of Dunn’s attack on Fox, Brock wrote a letter to progressive organizations bragging about the U.S. government trashing a news organization: “In recent days, a new level of scrutiny has been directed toward Fox News, in no small part due to statements from the White House, and from Media Matters, challenging its standing as a news organization.”Point of order: who put Media Matters in charge of determining what is and isn’t a news operation?
A Media Matters memo found its way into the public domain and if you care at all about decency and freedom of the press, it will make you throw up. If you like McCarthyism, it’s right up your alley. It details to liberal donors how they have plans to assemble opposition research on Fox News employees.
It complains of the “pervasive unwillingness among members of the media to officially kick Fox News to the curb of the press club” and outlines how they are going to change that through targeting elite media figures and turning them against Fox. They say they want to set up a legal fund to sue (harass) conservatives for any “slanderous” comments they make about progressives on air. They actually cite one of the best journalists around, Jake Tapper, as a problem because he questioned the White House about calling a news outlet “illegitimate.” Tapper can see the obvious: if the White House can call one news outlet illegitimate for asking tough questions, then guess who is next? Anyone."

Obama Accepts Transparency Award In Private

"President Barack Obama accepted an award for making the government more open and transparent – presented to him behind closed doors with no media coverage or public access allowed......"

The discrepancy between the honor and the circumstances under which it was delivered bothered open-government advocates in attendance, they said Thursday. They were even more perturbed when they discovered later that the meeting hadn't even been listed on Obama's public schedule, so there was no way for anyone to know about it.
The award was given by Bass's group and several others Monday to recognize Obama's work toward government openness and encourage him to do more......."

Obama to Keep His Flying Monkeys Busy for 2016

”If the NRA’s got a list, then Obama for America has a bigger list” - Robert Gibbs
WAPO - "President Obama’s recent announcement that he is setting up a group to keep his supporters energized and enrolled for action in a second term. To be called Organizing for Action, the group will harvest the rich data — e-mails and names — of the Obama foot soldiers who knocked on doors and got out the vote. Certainly, there’s something bigger going on here — a mix of technical prowess and grass-roots smarts. But there is also a whiff of something fishy.

The group will be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)4 of the Internal Revenue Code. This category is intended for social welfare organizations, and if the Obama team sticks to organizing and talking about issues, there’s nothing wrong with that. But in the past election cycle, a number of dark-money campaign groups took advantage of the fact that 501(c)4 does not require them to disclose their donors to the public. The Obama team says that it will disclose. It is a promise but entirely voluntary.

A second worry is that the Obama team is willing to accept corporate money. While officials say that the group won’t accept cash from political action committees and lobbyists, they apparently welcome companies and individuals making donations. At a closed-door meeting during the inaugural celebrations, the group made its first pitch to Democratic donors and bundlers, Politico reported. No doubt some donors will sign checks in hopes of influencing Obama administration policy decisions.

A third minefield is what role Organizing for Action might play in election campaigns. Under the law, a 501(c)4 group can engage in some electoral politics, but that can’t be its “primary” purpose. As we’ve noted, several organizations appear to have abused this standard in 2012 by spending heavily for political advertising to support candidates. Is the president now creating an apparatus that could do the same?

What’s most troubling is that President Obama seems to have developed a tin ear about shadow money in politics. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizens United campaign-finance case, Mr. Obama warned of “a new stampede of special-interest money in our politics.”

Why, then, is he opening a cashier’s window with his name on it for the same special interests? The president and his team may be wizards at social media and grass-roots organizing, but from an influence-peddling standpoint this organization looks to be fraught with hazard."

So,This is What It's Come to.........

The Lunacy of Piers Morgan Taken to its Logical Conclusion

Pendark's Perceptions

"If we are to say that it was the object and not the principle; which is exactly what Morgan said; then we must be prepared to argue that the words written in any of the documents of that era were written only to protect the object named as it existed in that era and not the principle at hand.
If we are to assume that what is written in The Constitution only applies to the direct objects cited in the day and age it was written, then we must also assume only the states that existed at the time of the ratification of the Constitution are protected by the clauses affecting states.
If we are to accept the logic that it was merely the object of the time protected by the words written and not the principle of the matter in perpetuity; then we must also assume that the words in the preamble to The Bill of rights:
“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.”
Means only—
The number of states existing at the time of ratification. (As any states to follow would be more modern and therefor more powerful and more dangerous.) Misconstruction or abuse of only the powers of government existing at the time of ratification. (As any powers of government to follow would be devised according to their time and therefor more powerful and dangerous.)
Declaratory, restrictive clauses only applying to the laws of the time; (since any laws after that would be created in different times and could potentially be more powerful and thus more dangerous.) Extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, as only the government of that time and the confidence of the public of that time; since the public at large would by the very virtue of their creation be in more advanced times and therefor more powerful and potentially dangerous.
We must, given this logic, further assume that ONLY the original 10 Amendments to the Constitution may be applied to any time; (as any Amendment thereto beyond the ten original Amendments; was written in a later period of time and thus is more modern and more powerful; thus more potentially dangerous.)"

A Great Civilization Is Singing Itself To Sleep

Political Clown Parade
"Yesterday, America witnessed the second pep rally of the “Chicago Messiah”. All the networks and cable outfits gave its viewers “smotherage” of the 57th presidential inauguration.
Amid the revelations that shocked the nation last week of two athletes who betrayed our trust by deceiving us, we have installed a president who did precisely the same thing. Four years ago, puppetmasters worked hard to make his brand famous and his lack of qualifications to hold the most powerful office in the world inconsequential. Those same puppetmasters worked tirelessly to feed low information voters a steady diet of propaganda that would convince them that his performance during his first term didn’t matter for his reelection in 2012—perfect agitprop for the media age.
As the Chicago Messiah stood on the stage of the U.S. Capitol to take the Oath of Office, it was as though he crossed his fingers in a gesture to symbolize that it’s all a big lie. I could imagine Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx standing behind him......"

Erotic Novel Featuring Barack and Michelle Goes on Sale

via NRO
"A new, erotic novel being described as “fan fiction,” which features the first couple as protagonists-in-chief, is now on sale.  The the novel itself, intended to be “personalized,” is being printed with the names of the president and the first lady in it and made available to interested parties.
Surely American literature has reached new heights with the publication of Guest House Games, in which Barack and Michelle Obama, “alone in their isolated beach front guest house in the tropical paradise of Kailua, Hawaii,” are “drawn into the ancient Hawaiian spiritual world and into the exploration of their own deepest and most forbidden desires.”
uStarNovels, the publisher of this pioneering work, describes itself as a purveyor of “specially crafted original erotica and erotic romance” featuring “characters that are relatable for everyone” and “experiences that are credible.”

The Americans With No Abilities Act

Free Republic

- President Barack Obama and the Senate are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said California Sen. Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing."

In a Capitol Hill press conference last week, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack any job skills, making this agency the single largest U.S. employer of Persons With No Ability. The Transportation Security Agency was a close runner up. Under the act, it will be perfectly acceptable to be in second place.

Private-sector industries with good records of non-discrimination against the inept include retail sales (72 percent), the airline industry (68 percent), and home-improvement warehouse stores (65 percent). At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).

Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability (POI) into middle-management positions, and give a tax credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.

Finally, the Americans With No Abilities Act contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the nonabled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as, "Do you have any skills or experience that relate to this job?"

"As a nonabled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Mich., due to her inability to remember righty tighty, lefty loosey. "This new law should be real good for people like me. I'll finally have job security." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said Vice President Joe Biden: "As an ex-senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so."

For To Many in Today's Media - Truth is a Relative Thing

"The 24-hour news networks need Journalists to cover the 'nuances;' of every major story. Nuances, incidentally, that are the by-product of television news producers who have agendas and personalities of their own to project and propagate....."

Matthew's Weekend Commentary
"Journalist Are A-holes"
By Matthew N.

The novel is coming along. If by 'coming along' I mean to say that writing it is like pulling teeth. I hadn't realized that it would have been this difficult to tell a story you've rehearsed inside your own head for nearly a decade, but apparently it is.

I was recently complaining about this to a journalist friend of mine (he writes for one of the New York dailies, but not one of the Big Three) who said something along the lines of "Now you know what we journalists have to contend with...".

Two things:

1. He is (in a backhanded fashion) probably admitting that professional journalists, much like someone writing a novel, make shit up as they go along, and that they sometimes, too, have trouble inventing and arranging the bullshit they make up, putting it into some sort of coherent package. In other words, he means to say that Modern Journalism is much like writing fiction. This would explain much about the Modern Press which can apparently devote oceans of ink and express the deepest puzzlement over trivial matters (what they expect the First lady to wear at the Inaugural, this Notre Dame football player and the fake leukemia girlfriend, Justin Bieber smoking a blunt, nothing but gun control with fake statistics and outright lies in every line), whilst ignoring the really important stuff, like, say, the perilous state of the American Economy, the return of Islamofascism in the Middle East, Barack Obama's massive health-care related tax increases, and regal proclamations about getting what he wants on the Debt Ceiling, Taxes, Spending Cuts, etc. without regard to Constitutional methods and requirements.

I've often been told, and have even read this in various places (most notably Orwell), that one of the stock tricks of the seasoned newspaper reporter is an ability to present news when there really isn't any. This exercise requires a bit of exaggeration, a dash of improvisation, a healthy dose of hyperbole, and in many cases, a huge, hulking heaping of creative license. In other words, on a 'slow news day' the trick is to manage to fill the newspaper with complete crap, a highly-stylized and often fictionalized reportage. Mrs. Smith's cat-in-the-tree becomes "Firemen respond to three-alarmer, rescue pet" with a heart-warming photo of a frightened kitty wrapped in a fireman's arms.

If this friend of mine, say, weren't busy telling people about things they really don't need to know about, and making things up to fill pages, and instead did his job -- which is to give you a blow-by-blow of the world's events, as and how they happen. Shit, the stuff almost writes itself, I would imagine! -- then perhaps he'd be better rested and less frustrated. Workaday Journalism, usually, isn't all that hard a job, one thinks: Shit Happens, after all. You just need to be there in order to be able to tell others the how and why.

I hear this person complain about how hard it is to be him, when he has a by-line, a paycheck, and a staff of assistants to gather information for him (usually by surfing the internet! They're not even going out and getting the news first-hand, anymore).

2. I always knew this particular person was a bit of a pretentious asshole, and this simply confirmed it.

He was expressing an idea which seems to be prevalent among our Journalistic class, or at least the few of them that I actually know, that what they do is noble, unappreciated, unfathomable to the common man, and that the rewards and accolades they receive for it are simply inadequate. They are beings set above the rest of us for their ability to write balanced sentences and possession of an iPhone full of 'sources' that, truthfully, probably lie to them as often as the Journalists lie to us. This school of thought holds that Journalism -- far from being a rather simple matter of garnering information, and putting it together in a compact, easy-to-understand, contextual form to be mass-produced for the general public -- is instead an art form, practiced by ethereal figures (after all, they studied English and went to J-school) of massively greater intelligence and importance. And they demand to be treated accordingly.

One can see where that mindset might spring from when you stop to consider the opportunities for Journalists today. Long ago, someone labored for his local daily, or perhaps got a plum assignment later in their career at Time, Life, Rolling Stone, or what have you, and became semi-famous in the same way that Snooki is, only with less (alleged) prostitution.

Nowadays, many Journalists are personalities-cum-celebrities. The 24-hour news networks need Journalists to cover the 'nuances;' of every major story. Nuances, incidentally, that are the by-product of television news producers who have agendas and personalities of their own to project and propagate. They tend to pick Journalists who agree with them to stick on television, so, one usually only gets one carefully-selected-and- presented side of every story. And because Journalists typically embellish their tales with their own opinions, "fake-but-accurate facts", sometimes malice, a financial and social need to preach to a certain choir, and a dash of political correctness, you do, indeed, get a work of fiction which someone, somewhere, could invariably become proud of to the point of considering it 'artistry'.

Like they're Michelangelo or Thomas Hardy, or something?

Personally, what passes for Journalism these days reminds me much of a toddler who has managed to get his hands into the back of his diaper, removed a turd from the crack of his little butt, and waddles up the hallway towards you offering it up in his little, chubby, shit-covered hands as if it were the Crown Jewels, with one of those giggle-y, coo-ey smiles that only a baby can manage.

For an example of what I mean, tune into MSNBC or CNN and sample the weak fare. Most of those people give you the simultaneous impressions that a) even they don't believe a damned word they're saying; it's simply what the paycheck and the face time require them to say, or so that they can be recognized as semi-famous in restaurants, and b) what they say often has a strange detachment from reality, as if they inhabit some other physical reality than the rest of us. This explains why anything said by a Jonathan Capehart, Mike Barnicle, or Eleanor Clift hardly ever makes any sense.

It's a form of abstract art that only they get, and we pay for, I suppose. That in the process of producing this 'art' the Journalists fail at their primary function of creating an informed public, doesn't really matter; Modern Journalism (in it's present state) doesn't require such a trivial, external reason to continue for it has itself. In other words, it has become Art for Art's sake.

So, I guess, in a way, I should be jealous. My Journalist friend produces a work of fiction every damned day, while I have struggled mightily to produce something like seven or eight chapters in a month. Then again, it's his job, and has been for nearly 25 years, so why should I be surprised that he's both good at it and proud of it? It's paid his bills, gotten his children braces, put new boobs on his wife, and a BMW in his driveway, and given him a sort of minor fame in some quarters.

If you asked him if it ever bothered him that he may be propagating myths, or outright fabricating
news in order to sell newspapers, he'd probably hit you with the same rhetorical club that he has hit me over the head with -- unashamedly -- in arguments for years :

The Truth is a relative thing.

"Chocolate City" Ray Nagin Indicted on 21 Corruption Charges

"Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on 21 corruption charges including wire fraud, bribery and money laundering, filing false tax returns and conspiracy.  The charges come from a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen."
Ray Na "school bus" Nagan
"Hurricane Katrina elevated Nagin to the national stage, where he gained a reputation for colorful and sometimes cringe-inducing rhetoric. During a radio interview broadcast in the storm’s early aftermath, he angrily pleaded with federal officials to “get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans.” In January 2006, he apologized for a Martin Luther King Day speech in which he predicted New Orleans would be a “chocolate city” and asserted that “God was mad at America.”
"Strong support from black voters helped Nagin win re-election in 2006 despite widespread criticism of his post-Katrina leadership. But the glacial pace of rebuilding, a surge in violent crime and the budding City Hall corruption investigation chipped away at Nagin’s popularity during his second term."

With no George Bush to blame or democrat party to shield him from criticism for inaction and imprisonment for negligence in the death of hundreds of people, I want to see this low life shyster talk his way out of this one!  Ray-Na faces 10-35 years in Federal Prison. Activists Strike Again!

Big Fur Hat @ IOTW

The Cowardly Lion of the Senate

"In Mr. Reid's Washington, the House works its will, the Senate does crossword puzzles. Its committees do not produce bills, its senators do not debate or amend, the body does not vote. The House, to accomplish anything, is forced to engage in backroom wrangling with the White House, the results of which are presented to the nation as a fait accompli. The Senate claims total deniability. ...

Mr. Reid's primary motive is to shield his vulnerable members from tough votes and to hide the huge divisions in his party.

"He does not want a debate on gun control, as it would force Democratic senators to choose between President Obama and their own pro-Second Amendment constituents. The majority leader would not offer a bill during the fiscal-cliff negotiations because many Democrats disagreed with their president's proposed tax hikes. He has not produced a budget because to do so would expose the party's real spending ambitions, which would create political problems back home for his members." — Kimberley Strassel, Wall Street Journal

I Ask You My Democrat Friends.....How Does It Feel?

I too was once a Democrat. Educated and indoctrinated with your ideals and ways of thinking. I too believed to a certain extent, the ends justified the means.

Some of life's discoveries are exciting, joyful, and exhilarating, while others can be quite painful. Stumbling upon the fact that you do not necessarily have a competent grasp of reality, that you have in fact been duped, is not a pleasant experience. While it may be a living nightmare to realize that part of one’s life was, perhaps, wasted on the false ideas of others. Time wasted in an intellectual fog of propaganda.

So,my progressive friends, now I ask you.....How does it feel to see your so-called “anti-war” party become the most accommodating cheerleader of laser guided death and domination in the Middle East, with predator drones operating in the sovereign skies of multiple countries raining missiles upon civilians and “enemy combatants”, all at the behest of Barack Obama. How does it feel  to see the “party of civil liberties” expand on every Constitution crushing policy while levying some of the most draconian legislation ever witnessed in the history of this country. How does it feel  to see  Obama endorse enemy combatant status for American citizens, and the end of due process under the law through the NDAA. How does it feel to see him endorse secret assassination lists, and the federally drafted murder of U.S. civilians. How does it feel  to see him endorse executive orders which open the path to the declaration of a “national emergency” at any time for any reason allowing for the dissolution of most constitutional rights and the unleashing of martial law.

If I was still a Democrat today I would be sickly ashamed. Yet, I hear many average Democrats actually defend this behavior from their party. The same behavior they once railed against under George Bush.

The biggest difference between progressives and conservatives is that progressives consistently look to government to solve all the troubles of the world, when government is usually the CAUSE of all the troubles in the world. The most common Democratic argument is that in America the government “is what we make it”, and we can change it anytime we like through the election process. Maybe this was true at one time, but not anymore. Just look at Barack Obama. I would ask all those on the Left to take an honest look at the policies of Obama. Where is the end to domestic spy programs? Where is the end to incessant and dictatorial executive orders?

You cannot claim to be anti-war, anti-torture, anti-assassination, anti-surveillance, anti-corporate, anti-bank, anti-rendition, etc. while defending the policies of Obama at the same time. This is hypocrisy.

And now,  in the name of tragedy,  you feel the need to strike even deeper into the document that contains our rights (in your case also perceived rights) and protections against tyranny.

People of my political stripe want a system that respects justice and legitimate law instead of using the law and executive orders as a sword against the public. To wake up each day with solace in the knowledge that while life in many regards will always be a difficult thing, we still have the means to make it better for ourselves and for the next generation. To wake up knowing that those inner elements of the human heart which make us most unique and most endearing are no longer considered “aberrant”, and are no longer under threat.

So I ask.....how does it feel?

This Does Nothing for the Reputation of Women Drivers

Police officers stand around a local train that  crashed into a residential building
in Saltsjobaden outside Stockholm

Honey I'm Home!

NBCA cleaning lady allegedly stole a Swedish train and drove it off the end of the tracks and smashed into a house outside Stockholm on Tuesday. It was not clear how the woman, around 20, got access to the key needed to start the train. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries "The cleaner drove the train at high speed, considerably higher than normal on that stretch, to where the rails end and crashed into a house," said Jesper Pettersson, spokesman at Stockholm Public Transport (SL).

The train ploughed past the end of the line and vaulted over a street separating the house from the depot, crashing through a balcony and into a downstairs room in the upscale suburb of Saltsjobaden.

EXCLUSIVE: Biden Commission Recommendations on Gun Violence Leaked

Some of the recommendations to  the Presidents Commission on Gun Violence headed by V.P. Joe Biden have been leaked to Middle Finger News late this evening. Commission members unhappy with some of the new rules put forth for review leaked the points most favored by commission chairman Biden. Here are just a few we were able to obtain:

* All firearms manufactured or imported into the United States must be fitted with delay action, allowing a brightly colored flag reading ‘BANG’ to be released to warn potential victims preceding the projectile leaving the firing chamber.
* All bullets manufactured or imported into the United states must be of brightly colored material to warn potential victims of their impending approach and be sterilized to prevent infection to control health care cost in accordance with Obama Health Care Reform.
*Require all publicly funded school systems to appoint one (1) child per classroom (grades K- 12) to be issued a sidearm daily for the prevention of violence and protection from deadly intruders.
* All concealed gun permit holders shall be required to wear underwear outside their clothing (officially referred to as Biden Style) to warn potential victims of nearby dangers of gun enthusiast.
* All bullets and various munitions be packed and sold individually and taxed accordingly.

George Soros Knows About Gun Control Firsthand

Scotty Starnes
"The Center for American Progress is a George Soros funded group of radicals that have been setting Obama’s presidential policies from day one. Soros was a Hillary supporter and funneled untold millions into CAP. Once Hillary lost to Obama, Soros the felon, and his group embraced Obama and Obama has embraced them. They helped push for the ObamaCare bill and a host of other radical bills for Obama. John Podesta, who runs CAP, was the leader of Obama’s transitional team.
The Desk of George Soros
Now the anti-American, anti-2nd Amendment extremist have Obama’s ear and are pushing their anti-gun ideas.
From WaPo:
"With President Obama readying an overhaul of the nation’s gun laws, a liberal think tank with singular influence throughout his administration is pushing for a sweeping agenda of strict new restrictions on and federal oversight of gun and ammunition sales.
The Center for American Progress is recommending 13 new gun policies to the White House — some of them executive actions that would not require the approval of Congress — in what amounts to the progressive community’s wish list."
So, a left-wing news rag is admitting that Obama is listening to, and taking recommendations, from a radical group of non-elected officials.
"CAP is urging the Obama administration to back Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s proposal to ban assault weapons. The California Democrat wants to prohibit the sale, transfer, importation and manufacture of military-style assault weapons and ammunition magazines that carry more than 10 bullets."
[Snip]

Not so strange when you realize George Soros has a rich personal history of involvement with gun grabbers.

"Decades of negotiations with Palestinians, Taliban, and al Qaeda have failed, largely because the West misunderstands the Muslim concept of what terms like “negotiate” and “peace” mean. Westerners tend to lose sight of the fact that Islam is the most militaristic and controlling of all the major religions. Unlike the other faiths, Islam established itself in war and initially spread largely by military conquest. Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and the other major faiths were more into preaching as a means of gaining new adherents. Then there is the militancy of Islam, which presents itself as a way of life, not just a religion. And part of that lifestyle includes fighting to gain new converts or to defend existing ones from forbidden ideas (especially other religions). This extremism is a way-of-life for Islamic conservatives (like many Saudi clergy and their followers) and radicals (Taliban and al Qaeda).
Islamic scripture is quite clear on how one “negotiates” with non-believers. Since you are on a Mission From God, anything is permitted. That includes hudnah, a term usually translated in the West as “ceasefire” or “truce.” But Islam defines hudnah as a deception used against infidels (non-Muslim) that involves pretending to agree to a ceasefire or truce while preparing to continue attacking when the forces of Islam have regained their strength.
The basic idea here is that Islam has been commanded by God to convert the world to Islam and there is no such a thing as coexistence (except when it is hudnah) nor any sense of fair dealing during this sacred endeavor. As a practical matter, Islamic countries ceased to be capable of conquering infidels over 500 years ago. At the same time Islamic conservatives consider this long inactivity as one long hudnah and any day now the Islamic armies will be on the march again.
Naturally, any good Islamic radical is not going to explain the reality of hudnah to infidels. Instead, in ancient hudnah fashion, they tell the infidels whatever it appears the infidels are willing to believe that will further the Islamic cause. Thus the Palestinians and Taliban are always bringing up peace talks, especially when Islamic combat capabilities are weak."

The Tyranny of Anecdotes

Taki's Magazine
Remember the good old days when you’d only have one tyrant per country and they’d usually kill a few thousand people? Today anyone can be tyrannical and use their shrill screams to kill millions of conversations.
In The Tyranny of Clichés, Jonah Goldberg talks about how clichés such as “Violence never solves anything” trump logic and end debates despite the evidence saying the opposite. (He says violence liberated America from the English and also ended slavery.) The perpetually misunderstood Sam Francis has a similar take but calls it “anarcho-tyranny” and describes it as
a combination of anarchy (in which legitimate government functions—like spying on the bad guys or punishing real criminals—are not performed) and tyranny (in which government performs illegitimate functions—like spying on the good guys or criminalizing innocent conduct like gun ownership and political dissent).
There’s a third kind of tyranny with which the seemingly oppressed like to oppress us: anecdotal evidence. Where freak occurrences and exceptions used to be treated for the aberrations that they are, they now define policies and dominate discourse. Right now, Putin is using one dead orphan to justify a total adoption ban on American parents because his ego is hurt. To be against him is to want orphans to die.
Safety culture uses this tactic often. Thirty-four children in Ohio died in car accidents! Are you OK with that? Are you OK with a classroom blowing up? To be against booster seats for 7-year-olds is to laugh at the atrocities in Sandy Hook. No wonder Ralph Nader has a career. If you don’t pay his extortion fees, you’re killing kids. When you have the emotions behind “common sense” on your side, counterintuitive truth is doomed.
In a culture where a Liberal Arts degree is considered education and “Making mathematics mandatory prevents us from discovering and developing young talent,” replacing data with propaganda is easy.
Here are 10 totally random occurrences that tyrants pretend aren’t random at all:

Bill Clinton named 'Father of the Year'

"Former President Bill Clinton is getting props for being a good dad.
Clinton was named the “Father of the Year” by the National Father’s Day Council on Wednesday. The group selected Clinton for his “profound generosity, leadership and tireless dedication to both his public office and many philanthropic organizations,” Dan Orwig, chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee, said in the announcement.
The award will be presented at a luncheon in June." -  Politico
[SNIP]

What does a lecherous past,  dedication to public office and philanthropic activities have in any way to do with being a good father? How about nominating a guy who tirelessly works two jobs to feed and put a roof over his children's heads, involves himself in their raising and is home with them on weekends......  Father of the Year, what a load of crap!

Congress Less Popular Than Root Canals, Cockroaches And Lice…

Inside Politics

"A new poll shows that Congress is less popular than carnies, root canals and colonoscopies, but more popular than the ebola virus, meth labs and gonorrhea.
Those findings are in a Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released Tuesday showed that 9 percent of the respondents held a favorable opinion of Congress, while 85 percent held an unfavorable view.
“We all know Congress is unpopular,” said Dean Debnam, PPP president. “But the fact that voters like it even less than cockroaches, lice and Genghis Kahn really shows how far its esteem has fallen with the American public over the last few weeks.”
On the bright side, Congress came out of the survey in higher standing than North Korea, the Kardashian family, and actress Lindsay Lohan, as well as Cuba’s Fidel Castro and former Sen. John Edwards...."

It's Time We Ban All Holidays

via Euripides

"This past week I read several news articles that just proves to me what I've been feeling for many years now: All holidays should be banned for the good of this country. Holidays are oppressive remnants of an evil bygone era, long overdue to be banned. I'm sure all will agree that it is high time we took a look at the institution of holidays and think about giving that up. Let me go through a partial list of holidays in the US to show what I mean:

New Years Day - This celebration is completely insensitive to those non-Julian calendared individuals in our country. We can no longer support a day that just isn't new years for Jews, Muslims, or the Chinese. Besides, having wild parties in the middle of the night at Times Square is downright dangerous and unhealthy.

Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday - Originally based on the ideal of civil rights, this holiday is a reminder of White oppression and the evils of slavery. Since we no longer want anyone to feel bad around the celebration of holidays, we must also get rid of this one. It also neglects to celebrate the diversity of all people of color, for example, excluding Hispanics and Asians. Gays are not represented either, especially in light of the modern idea that gays are the "New Black."

Mardi Gras - At first glance, this holiday seems innocuous enough, representing the average American values of debauchery and overindulgence. However, we can no longer support a holiday that takes place in New Orleans. This city was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, which, as we all know, was Bush's fault. We must not support any holiday associated with George W. Bush.

Valentine's Day - Of course, this is the celebration of St. Valentine, a religious figure, and should be given up since it is offensive to any non-Catholic. It is also a reminder that gays have been legislated from their freedom to express love, apparently in any way, shape or form. The non-romantic in this country take exception to the idealization of romance and want nothing to do with it and should not have romanticism and love shoved in their faces.

President's Day - At the outset, this looks like a good idea until you realize that we are also celebrating George W. Bush who was President of the US. No one really wants a holiday that celebrates Bush. If Clinton had only been allowed to stay in office, we could probably keep this one holiday, but alas, Bush has ruined it for everyone.

April Fool's Day - All but gone anyway, the practice of playing practical jokes on anyone is insensitive, unfunny and should be made criminally illegal with stiff jail terms and fines imposed.

St. Patrick's Day - A Catholic throwback that should best be ignored. Making everything green in its celebration denies the diversity of color. We might, perhaps, consider a Rainbow Beer day instead, but beer will soon be illegal since it causes obesity and drunk drivers.

May Day - A holiday based on the mass destruction of earth's natural resources by cutting and killing millions of innocent flowers is completely unconscionable. We should never agree to any holiday that contributes so drastically to global warming.

Cinco de Mayo - This isn't a real holiday in Mexico either, but an excuse to get drunk and cause traffic accidents. It should have been banned years ago.

Mother's Day - This insensitive celebration doesn't even consider the many women who cannot have children, or choose to abort them. Men, also are excluded, which at the outset may seem like a good thing until you realize that some gays are men as well.

Independence Day - This is merely a celebration of some old, fat, white guys making other old, fat white guys angry and starting a war that killed lots of innocent people. We also need to consider that fireworks are inherently dangerous and need to be banned. Personally, I'm tired of trying to find new ways to decorate using red, white, and blue as the only possible colors.

Labor Day - When we have a holiday that reminds us that we should all be working, we're not being fair to the myriads of people depending on the US welfare system for their support. We could conceivably stretch this particular holiday to include welfare recipients, and call it Nanny State Day or some such, but alas, there are still people who insist on working for a living and ruining it for the rest of us.

Hannukah - Lighting candles in your house or apartment is dangerous. It's best if we forget this holiday for the safety of all.

Christmas - The grandparent of all oppressive religious holidays, this is a reminder to atheists around the country that "we are all going to hell if we don't bow down to Jesus." Its traditional values of peace on earth, goodwill towards men has absolutely no place in our modern, secular society. No such religious sentimentality should be forced on anyone. Gift giving and being nice to others also has no business being enforced by the religious right. Christmas contributes to widespread deforestation, light pollution, mall traffic, and global warming. It remains the most unhealthy time of the year as heart attacks and suicides increase. Santa Claus is a silly myth and superstition that should never be imposed on anyone, let alone on unsuspecting and innocent children. Wal-Mart workers would certainly be safer without it.

Kwanzaa - Let's face it, this one was just made up so Blacks in the US could feel better about themselves by having their own tradition to adhere to. Traditions are inane remnants of deranged minds and no one in this country has a right to feel better about themselves.

There you have it. A lot of problems in the US would go away if we would stop being so selfish and just give up our holidays. Ill feelings would melt away as the ear of a chocolate Easter bunny in the mouth of a three year old.
