Just Throwing It Out There........

The English Tudors, with their characteristic Machiavellian insights and methods, implemented a strategy in Celtic Ulster called “surrender and regrant.” In theory, the King of All England had title to all of Ireland pursuant to papal decree and the invention of a “Kingdom of Ireland” as part of the English royal title. Most of Ireland was already occupied by an Anglo-Norman aristocracy. However, Ulster had never been fully subjugated in the 400 years since some guy named Norman invaded in the twelfth century. The Tudors increased military presence in Ireland but recognized that full conquest would be costly and difficult.

So old Henry VIII’s people concocted an “offer that cannot be refused.” The landholders and clan chieftains were offered this deal -  Renounce all rights and claims under your inheritance under Celtic tradition and law and instead recognize the claim of the King of England. In return, the King will make you the earl or whatever of your current holdings. You get to keep everything with the sole proviso that it is conditional on your continued loyalty. Refuse, and sometime soon English soldiers will see to it that somebody else owns these properties.

It occurred to me that an analogous approach should be taken to reform the corrupt FBI.

Even if there were a 2024 election mandate to clean house, trying to seek out and fire the corrupt, politicized weasels responsible for hustling the “Russiagate” dossier, for lying about the Hunter Biden laptop, and for participating in the outrageous censorship campaigns would be inherently difficult because (1) there is not enough leverage to compel the truth from “Deep State” burrows and (2) civil service employment protections establish other barriers. Even with a reformed DOJ and honest FBI leadership, most of the wrong-doers will escape and go on to collect their pensions, then gigs on MSNBC.

So, following the model of Henry, a proposed solution in two steps. First, abolish the existing FBI in its entirety. At the exact same time, create a new agency (“FBI-2”) with a really cool new logo, with almost exactly the same functions, authorizations, and budget BUT an express prohibition against hiring anyone who was involved in or fails to disclose, cooperate or fully testify regarding certain enumerated abuses. So, all the field agents, technicians, actual caped crime fighters and clerical staff would be almost instantly rehired but the rats’ nest would be eliminated. Employment will be contingent on loyalty to FBI-2 with their cool new windbreakers with cool new logo, instead of to the old FBI. The incentives would be reversed and the testimony and documentary evidence could flow freely. Surrender loyalty to a corrupt agency and be regranted employment in a reformed one.

Other well known Tudor practices such as beheading might also appear to be salutary, but are barred by law and prudence–unless the election mandate is really large, of course.

They are Still in the 'Roll Up the Windows When They Drive By' Stage.

Drunken Grandma of Death Points Her Boney Finger

One of the biggest attempts at disinformation ever perpetrated is the allegation that man-made global warming is our number one threat. The global warming hoax is the result of political chicanery backed up by faulty science and endorsed by the UN and the World Economic Forum. It has nothing to do with climate. It has everything to do with redistributing the world’s resources. (i.e. your money).

The Drunken Grandma of Death seems to have stumbled outside and mistaken what we call “summer” for some sort of apocalyptic event because there is a heat wave washing over the country. A typical event for mid-summer in the United States to people who are sober.

From the shallow end of the pool of relevance, Ma Clinton took to the tweeter for a dose of her famous 'Blame Game' she's likened to do.   She got Roasted

It started with the Bozo Sapiens at far-left think tank 'Center for American Progress' tweeting, “MAGA Republicans are pouring fuel on the climate crisis fire.” Using the summer heat as a leftist club, democrats have been quick to blame cyclical weather on Republicans.  And, of course, Hillary couldn’t resist looking equally idiotic by doing so as well.  And from results, she was quite successful.

Clinton’s tweet was made just eight days after a New York Times editorial calling on leaders to “politicize the weather.”.

More and more scientists have joined the dissent about climate change. Dr. John Clauser, co-winner of the 2022 Nobel Physics prize, calls the climate emergency scare a “dangerous corruption of science that threatens the world’s economy and the well-being of billions of people.” MIT Professor Richard Lindzen referred to the global warming crowd as a cult. “As with any cult,” Lindzen said, “once the mythology begins falling apart, instead of saying, oh, we were wrong, they get more and more fanatical.”

Bidenomics? Courtney's Open Tabs Call BullSh*t

Courtney Is Judging You Now.

* Americans Seeking Cheaper Everyday Essentials Threaten Corporate Growth: (Bloomberg) - Americans are cutting back on personal hygiene products in a troubling sign for the US economy and consumer-focused companies.

* Businesses are cutting workers’ hours in a warning sign for the economy:WAPO - Businesses are starting to cut workers’ hours, forcing hundreds of thousands of people into part-time roles, in what could be an early warning sign for the economy. The number of people who worked part time, but want to work full time, rose by 452,000 in June, the biggest jump in more than three years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

* Major U.S. Banks To Report Biggest Jump In Loan Losses Since COVID Pandemic: After three years of relatively low defaults, partially owing to pandemic-era stimulus cash and other government assistance, lenders are now feeling the negative effects of higher interest rates and inflation on borrowers.

Debt increases over a trillion in five weeks, quickest pace ever: This is simply astounding. It took from our founding until 1980 to accrue the amount of debt that we have now added in just over five weeks. It is truly hard to overstate the magnitude and impact of this spending.

 * Joe Lies - The federal deficit has nearly tripled: The federal government's deficit nearly tripled in the first nine months of the fiscal year, ballooning both because of a sharp increase in government spending and a significant drop in tax revenues. FJB

 * The Dollar’s Epic Drop Sends Franc and Yen Surging: Under Biden, My portfolio increased by 17%, but the value of the dollar decreased by 23%. Tell us about that great economy Joe. All smoke and mirrors folks. Simple math. A Million dollars under Trump is worth about 750g's now. Still think you're moving forward?

The U.S. Treasury reported a $1.4 trillion deficit so far nine months into fiscal year 2023: “Three-quarters into the fiscal year and we’re borrowing an astounding $5.1 billion per day: “By the end of 2023, federal debt held by the public equals 98 percent of GDP.”

* Leading Economic Index Falls For 15th Straight Month, Indicating Looming Recession: The leading index uses 10 indicators designed to show whether the economy should be expected to improve or worsen. Seven of the 10 indicators fell in June.

* Existing Home Sales Plunge: The pace of home sales in June fell by 18.9 percent compared with a year ago: This was the slowest pace for home sales since January and the slowest June since 2009.

* Survey Shows Manufacturing Continues to Shrink for 11th Straight Month: Manufacturing activity in the Mid-Atlantic region fell again in July, according to a monthly survey released Thursday by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

John Kerry Proves He's Still Inept at That Policy Stuff

Biden administration climate czar, the venerable Duke of Heinz - Earl of Ketchup - second rate former Secretary of State John Kerry, leaves Beijing with no deal, no potential deal, not a wisp of a deal, just his bag of dirty clothes. He announced Wednesday after three days of climate negotiations with Xi Jinping's government, he did succeed in having long and very detailed meetings with a lot very frank conversations, lots of fine dining and chardonnay, but it is clear that we are going to need a little more work to complete our task.  Translation: Kerry failure to return with any sort of climate agreement comes as another embarrassment to the Biden administration.

During Kerry's time in Beijing, Xi poured cold water on the Biden administration's attempts at climate diplomacy by not meeting with Kerry during the visit and on Tuesday, reiterating his nation's climate goals "will never be influenced by others." Xi basical told Kerry to have a fortune cookie and buzz off horseface. We got coal power plants to build.

Leaving Beijing, Kerry looked "haggard and somewhat out of his mind", ranting about conservative bloggers in the U.S. making fun of him, and that he "needed an earth shaking international agreement to show those bastards!"

John F. Kerry, the multiple Purple Heart recipient no one pays any attention but his dogs, now desperately watches most of his political legacy, mainly the fraud of an Iran nuclear deal, the ridiculous climate change accord as well as the crown jewel of his foreign policy efforts, the Non-Aggression Pact with Canada, all being regulated to the dumpster of historical blunders.

Ya Know.....

“My uncle says there used to be front porches. And people sat there sometimes at night, talking when they wanted to talk, rocking, and not talking when they didn’t want to talk. Sometimes they just sat there and thought about things, turned things over. My uncle says the architects got rid of the front porches because they didn’t look well. But my uncle says that was merely rationalizing it; the real reason, hidden underneath, might be they didn’t want people sitting like that, doing nothing, rocking, talking; that was the wrong KIND of social life. People talked too much. And they had time to think. So they ran off with the porches.” - Ray Bradbury

The restoration efforts at Notre-Dame continue using ancient tools and techniques ...
"A cathedral is a structural ensemble that's very complex, and as soon as you change one little thing, one parameter, it impacts everywhere else in the cathedral," he says. "So reconstructing it exactly the same way is also a precaution. It worked very well for 800 years. So we know if we build it back the same way we won't risk damaging the cathedral by trying something new."

Whoa..Need to Bring It Down a Notch There Little Guy

Zelensky Rages at Biden and Trashes NATO

Volodymyr Zelensky is not happy about how his Sugar Daddy Biden and the NATO Allies are handling Ukraine. Zelensky lashed out at the alliance decrying that he was left out of some meetings and that there is no timeline set to admit Ukraine into NATO.
“Ukraine will be represented at the NATO summit in Vilnius. Because it is about respect. But Ukraine also deserves respect. Now, on the way to Vilnius, we received signals that certain wording is being discussed without Ukraine. And I would like to emphasize that this wording is about the invitation to become NATO member, not about Ukraine’s membership.”
Now I realize his country was invaded by Russia and that his recent counter-offensive has not gone well. But as a leader, part of diplomacy is maintaining a level head. That’s especially true when the other nations he’s attacking are paying the bills and funding his fucking war effort!

Zelensky complains that “certain wording is being discussed without Ukraine” at the ongoing NATO summit in Lithuania. That makes sense, though, because Ukraine IS NOT A MEMBER OF NATO!

The Little Napoleon seems to want to operate as part of NATO without actually being in NATO.
“It’s unprecedented and absurd when time frame is not set neither for the invitation nor for Ukraine’s membership. While at the same time vague wording about “conditions” is added even for inviting Ukraine. It seems there is no readiness neither to invite Ukraine to NATO nor to make it a member of the Alliance.”
You know what else is unprecedented? The admission of a state into NATO that is in an active war with a nuclear power. If Ukraine were to be admitted tomorrow, all of NATO would be at war with Russia the New York Minute Zelensky takes to makes an Article 5 declaration.

There will be a negotiated settlement at some point because the idea that Ukraine is going to retake Crimea just ain't gonna happen. It's always been considered as part "Mother Russia."

Again, I sympathize with the little man despite the accusations of corruption in his country that have turned so many conservatives off. Russia invaded and his people are fighting valiantly. That’s to be respected. Regardless, there are geopolitical realities that must also be respected, and Zelensky should show a little fucking gratitude to the taxpayers of nations that have spent themselves into debt to prop up his military instead of coming off as an ungrateful bastard.

Otherwise, his epitaph could have read - 'Just the little comedian that took on the Russian Army. And Lost'.

Leftists Argue Government Censorship is the Highest Form of Speech

Roger's 'WTF' Look

The American Left believes it has gained enough power and that Americans are now sufficiently ignorant enough that it no longer sees an important value in maintaining protections for free speech, at least at a federal level, and has publicly switched its enthusiasm from speech to censorship. It now lovingly speaks of the valuable “speech” of government censors and of the ‘chilling effects’ of extremist judges who interfere with them.

When Judge Terry Doughty issued an injunction in Missouri v. Biden that banned the government from “specifically flagging content or posts on social-media platforms and encouraging, removal, deletion, or suppression”, all hell broke loose.
Now, lefty academics and experts want to not only reverse the polarities of free speech, but they are just as worried that any protection for free speech will interfere with government censorship. To justify this inversion of civil rights, they have also inverted the concept of censorship so that the true form of free speech is to prevent others from speaking.

Evelyn Douek, a Stanford law professor warned that preventing the government from colluding with corporations to censor citizens would have a "chilling effect".  In traditional free speech jurisprudence, 'chilling effects' were inflicted by the government, but now Liberals who might have once worried about free speech now fret that the government will be inhibited from censoring free speech.

According to Leah Litman, a law professor at the University of Michigan, preventing the government from censoring citizens was… censorship.
Crying censorship has become the last resort of censors who demand the right to censor. After arguing that censorship by some of the biggest companies in the world was really speech, lefty legal scholars are arguing that government censorship is free speech, and that when judges prevent the government from censoring, the government’s speech is being violated.

After abandoning free speech, lefty legal scholars now celebrate the virtues of censorship in the glowing language once used for promoting reverence for a free exchange of ideas.

We Already Possess the Cure for Poverty and Climate Change.

During the recent power outages and denial of interweb service, I took up reading a book I picked up a while back on a subject I have always had questions: The Case for Nukes: How We Can Beat Global Warming and Create a Free, Open, and Magnificent Future by Robert Zubrin (Polaris Books 2023). It's a very thoughtful argument that debunks the toxic falsehoods that have been spread to dissuade us from using it by the ignorant, the fearful, and the fanatical from returning to the use of Nuclear power as a remedy to our festering Twenty First Century problems. Here's a quick synopsis of what I culled from his book.

In a very literal sense, energy technologies have molded humanity. The invention of cooking with fire by those small brained Homo Habilis dudes cut the metabolic energy needed to digest meat, making it safer to consume and allowing the primates to eat more small animals or their enemies. Evolution directed some of these surplus calories to their brains, enabling the hungry organ to grow in size and ability, leading to the industrious little guys, Homo Erectus, the forerunner us, the Bozo Sapien.

Over the millennia, humans learned to harness fire to smoke meats, craft pottery, bend metal, and more, forming much of the material basis of the pre-fossil fuel world. Wood power (or what is now called “biomass”) was such a good deal that parts of Europe started running out of forests in the 1700s. Britain was the first nation to innovate itself out of this dilemma, which they did by burning coal.

Mastering coal and other fossil fuels prevented energy scarcity, but also led to an unforeseen revolution in human life. Synthetic fertilizer, electricity, cars, plastics, smart phones, x-rays, ChatGPT—nearly all elements of modern life—exist because of fossil fuels. Today billions of people enjoy a prosperity that would be unimaginable to their ancestors.

This history of energy begins The Case for Nukes. Robert Zubrin, an American aerospace engineer of three decades tells the history of energy to set the stage for one of his core arguments, that humanity should use more energy. Over 700 million people languish in extreme poverty today and billions have not reached a standard of living equivalent to that of a developed country.

In contrast, radical environmentalists urge people to use less energy, which they believe is necessary to avert climate and ecological apocalypse. Zubrin contends that slashing energy use would be so harmful as to be borderline genocidal, but he does recognizes that the environmental harms of fossil fuels are unsustainable. Thus he endorses nuclear energy, asserting that only atomic energy can lift all people out of poverty while conserving the environment.

Zubrin makes a strong case that nuclear plants are safe. Unlike what the fear-mongers say, nuclear reactors cannot explode like atomic bombs; it is impossible thanks to the laws of physics. A nuclear reactor contains only low-enriched fuel and cannot create fast neutrons, and thus cannot produce the devastation of an atomic weapon. To quell radiation fears, Zubrin notes that nuclear reactors actually reduce the amount of radiation that enters the atmosphere. One 1000 MW natural gas plant releases more radiation every month than the entire Three Mile Island nuclear accident, one of the worst nuclear accidents in history.

Nuclear waste is a non-issue. Nuclear waste has never hurt anyone and there is very little of it. The nuclear waste issue also reveals the duplicity of the anti-nuclear movement. Civilian nuclear waste can be safely stored in geologically stable rock formations, a solution already implemented by the US military for its nuclear program.

Zubin also goes into detail the problem with cost overruns. Simply put, the US federal government has strangled the American nuclear industry with an oppressive regulatory regime. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sometimes alters regulations mid-construction, forcing crews to reconfigure already completed systems.

Being what the internet would call a “nuke bro,” Zubrin argues that fashionable solar and wind projects cannot meet humanity’s energy needs; however, his review of these technologies is too brief given their political success and general popularity.

Regardless, The Case for Nukes is a persuasive and engaging look at an indispensable technology. Philosophically, The Case for Nukes falls firmly within the ecomodernist tradition, a school of thought that sees advancing technology and human prosperity as necessary to preserve an ecologically vibrant planet.

I say let's start smashing some fucking atoms and keep the lights on. How bout you?

Tell Me Again. Who's the Real Threat to Democracy??

State Media Laments Biden Government's Restricted
 Censorship Privileges on Free Speech

The State Media has been in meltdown again every since Judge Terry A. Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana issued an injunction Tuesday ruling the Biden administration and other federal agencies suppressed free speech and ordered to stop the government from colluding with social media (as the Twitter files clearly proved) by stripping Americans’ of their right to free speech.

Doughty ruled members of the Biden administration, including officials with the FBI, DOJ, Biden WH and Department of Health and Human Services could not communicate with social media companies for “the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech.”

In expected due course, the usual talking heads on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and elsewhere who you would expect to defend free speech instead formed up for a media circle jerk and defend Biden and their government 'god of Big Brother', lamenting the ruling Wednesday by calling it "far reaching" and "Dramatic".

Tulane University history Professor Walter Isaacson, CEO of the controversial 'Aspen Institute', said on MSNBC’s Squinty & Meat Puppet in the Morning, the decision “goes too far,” while also saying the “Twitter Files” showed the government and big tech companies did take it “a bit far.” Gee, ya think?

NBC’s Ryan Reilly argued the real problem is the FBI is NOT policing social media enough.

NBC's Ryan Nobles, speaking on a network known for pushing hoaxes and misinformation, questioning whether “elections could be undermined” without censorship of alleged disinformation.

Really Mr. Nobles?? On MSNBC no less?

The New York Times raised a similar argument, painting the ruling protecting free speech as one that hurts the government’s ability to protect Americans from alleged disinformation.

Like the incomparable Lieutenant Columbo, I have just one more question for these supposed constitutional experts. Just where in the constitution does the government hold the scepter of truth (a purveyor  of propaganda itself) have the right to suppress free speech, on the corner soap box or social media?

I think the First Amendment makes it clear. FJB

The Strange Case Of the White House Library Cocaine

A WH Secret Service detail found a suspicious white powder substance in the library during a routine round at the White House on Sunday that tested positive for cocaine. It remains unknown to whom the substance belonged or how it arrived at the premises. But I'm sure tomorrow speculations will run wild in the media it could have been left over from the Trump administration.

The FBI has sent their garage door noose squad to the scene to join in the investigation. The discovery came soon after first son Hunter Biden's visit to the White House on Friday after which he and daddy Joe left for Camp David.

Newsmax host Robb Schmitt said during a report on the cocaine discovery: 'It wouldn't be a thumpin' July 4th weekend without Hunter Biden ripping a few lines off of a bust of Teddy Roosevelt.'

Happy Independence Day!

In lieu of real fireworks, I can only give you a Virtual Firecracker.

I met this young lady in 2011 or 12, not sure now, when she brought her band at the time in for the N.O Jazz Fest. As a favor to some local musicians she had connections to here, she came by and laid down two drum tracks for their project which was in the early works. I remember being very impressed watching her work, by the technical knowledge of the her chosen instrument's resonance and the approach she took to her technique. She has since gone on to become very well known.
