The Obama administration doesn't seem to care what the law is, it's simply skirts the law and dictates what he wants it to be. Here's another good example:
$1.5 BILLION in funding will continue to be sent to Egypt even though U.S. law specifically bans funding to nations ruled by military coup.
The administration ran into hot water over the whole thing, so the State Department put an army of attorneys on the case. The legal conclusion? It’s only a military coup if the administration admits it’s a coup.
The senior official did not describe the legal reasoning behind the finding, saying only, “The law does not require us to make a formal determination as to whether a coup took place, and it is not in our national interest to make such a determination.” “We will not say it was a coup, we will not say it was not a coup, we will just not say,” the official said.
So even though it is a coup, it’s only viewed as a coup in legal terms if the Obama administration admits it is a coup. Here we have the Obama administration indirectly dictating a coup did not happen so that U.S. tax-dollars can continue to flow into one of Obama's favorite charities.
