Bruce Springsteen, know affectionately outside his northeastern fan base by those who wonder how he ever got famous as the World's Most Famous Mediocre Garage Band Leader, was asked by a member of the foreign press to pontificate on high American political affairs of which he is kinda-sorta an expert because he plays a guitar.
He told the UK's Sunday Times Magazine he predicted that Donald Trump will likely be reelected for a second term because there isn’t a strong-enough Democratic challenger on the horizon at this point. Springsteen credited, or blamed, the rise in popularity of populist Trump that resulted in his becoming president on the loss of jobs, technical innovations and a rapid pace of change in the country that’s been unaddressed in the last decade. Of course he didn't mention the utter failures of the eight years his boy Barack Obama in all this though, because that wouldn't be cool.
"You can find yourself in a country that you may not feel part of, or you feel that your concerns are being dismissed. I basically think that the problem is the incredibly rapid pace of change that’s occurred in the United States that’s gone unaddressed."
"I don’t see anyone out there at the moment, man or woman who can beat Trump. You need someone who can speak some of the same language and the Democrats don’t have an obvious, effective presidential candidate. I don’t know if I see a unifying figure on the horizon. That worries me. In short, Trump was born to run, and from looking at the democrats clown car of hopefuls so far from Springsteen's position front mic center, he may be unstoppable.
