Barack Does Baton Rouge

Dorkus Maximus Surveys East Baton Rouge Parish

Our semi-retired president wrapped up a 16-day vacation on Martha's Vineyard  this weekend , and has received criticism for participating in leisurely activities like smoking Marlboros and playing golf while Louisiana contends with the devastation brought about by heavy rain, loss of life and historic flooding.

White House officials have pushed back on those who have compared it to former President George W. Bush's reaction to Hurricane Katrina, countering critics by pointing out Obama received regular updates on the situation between golf outings throughout the week. But he did sent one of his houseboys, Jeh Johnson, down to keep an eye on things, only long after the Louisiana National Guard and Cajun Navy had swung into full action and help and needed supplies starting pouring in from all over the state.

But it's mighty good of you to drop by today and say a few words and take a photo or two  hugging a devastated resident for the media and your scrapbook......
