Somebody Say Football??

Every year in the first week of September, Americans from coast to coast set aside their differences, be it religious, political and even the personal, and join in a camaraderie second to none in all of sports, professional or amateur. No sport, not even the simpleton showboat game of Basketball, which suddenly becomes popular for two weeks in March can come close to the CFB hardcore fan loyalty. Whether as an alumni, or just allegiance to your state's team, no sport, especially in the south draws the passion and ritual of College football. And this weekend college football jumps headlong into their much awaited 157th season.

Yes indeed, it is at long last College Football season again.  Fresh jerseys, refurbished helmets, new cleats and all new, longer and much improved fake weaves to flow from beneath the helmets. (I hear they give you that extra half-step on your competitor). The Expert Sports Monkeys have picked their top 25, conference champions, National Champs and even the Heisman Trophy winner. And more often than not, they will be 98% wrong. But the season starts in earnest this weekend and everyone is raring to go! Let's hear it for the Cheer Gurls!!
Saturday night ( 6:30pm - ABC) the Fighting Dabos of Clempston University roll into bayou country and the REAL DEATH VALLEY to take on the NCAA Football's Newest Bad Boy and our LSU Tigers. The Lane Kiffin era debut as the 'Head Cat' on the Tiger sideline is much anticipated by fans and detractors alike. Much is expected for his price. To the Tiger faithful the feeling is cautious optimism. Kiffen definitely has the player talent on hand. But are they ready to play up to that talent?

The two teams met at the N.O. Superdome in the 2019 CFB National Championship Game where the Breck Girl and the mighty Fighting Dabo's ran headlong into the path of one of the greatest team seasons in modern college football history, and were sent home with some purple and gold confetti and a certificate of participation. Last year both teams met for their season opener in Clempston's Memorial Stadium (aka faux Death Valley). LSU punched the Clemson Kitties in the nose, and came home victorious.

LSU begins the 2026 season in their almost traditional place just outside the Top 10 at #11 in both the AP and Coaches polls.

So Buckle Up Boys and Girls.....Time To Play Some Football!
(Saturday 6:30pm on ABC)
