19 Seconds

The video was all of 19 seconds long and featured a “day at the zoo” with the focus being on the elephants there. Within a year, the number of videos that had joined it topped 25 million. By the summer of 2006, 100 million video views per day had been uploaded. Then, just a short time later, it was purchased for $1.65 billion in stock.

We did not realize it in the 2005-2006 era, but the new technology would unleash hours of free music and free films. Those items are archived along with those personal videos of loving couples uploading their precious records of wedding vows taken, baby’s first steps, the awkward 3-year-old’s ballet performance and more. Pet parents eager to share their puppy or kitty’s amazing hijinks started posting, and soon thereafter things like future scientist types attempting to ride a bicycle through a burning sheet if plywood.

Health and DIY videos soon became a mainstay, without which I wouldn't know that a month long diet of asparagus and tuna fish would not make my tits bigger after all or how to replace the tri-faced secondary giggler spring on a 62 Jaguar XKE.

But more importantly, an information revolution of self-important political pundits who freely posted their opinions came about. These videos ranged from pathetic sound bytes to earth-shattering revelations. No longer were the Powers That Be able to decree that it was their way or the highway.

When, in the summer of 2016, Wikileaks brought forth tens of thousands of emails that had come from Seth Rich’s DNC access, people who had been on the fence about which candidate to select in the 2016 election suddenly knew that they could now only choose either a third-party candidate or one Donald Trump.

This factor played a major role in allowing DJT to clinch that election and the hilariously disbelieving talking heads & their ridiculous statements as the entire nation faced the final moments of the vote count were saved for perpetuity. (rumors that Rachel Maddow’s head exploded when Florida was declared for Trump remain only that)  The Young Turks 2016 election night leftist meltdown has gone down as one of the most enjoyable examples of the on air insanity of  smug third rate media losers.

Meanwhile, the video site’s content creators upped the game in terms of audio and video quality and developed special effects on offer to content creators. A guy could present his views of political realities while the cartoon/AI fish in the bowl leaped up to ask questions or offer critiques as the straight man. It was not always just your cutting-edge ideas but how cleverly you could keep your audience entertained that made you a success.

Of course, Google is basically a Deep State operation. So it was not surprising that people offering up political views that differed from the directed narrative had specific vids de-monetized. In some cases, entire series were eliminated if the content was found unacceptable. But even as the platform took away certain points of view, others managed to elude the censors and create careers commensurate with their talents. We know as much as we rely on it, it's a tech product subject to turbulent tides. Anyone who remembers the products that once dominated our tech world knows that a viable alternative could be right around the corner. No one knows what the future will hold.

Where Things Stand

"Fighting fascism,” for the American Jacobins who lead the Democratic Party, means opposing any attempt to flush the corruption out of the entrenched bureaucracy, just as their pet phrase “our democracy” actually refers to the matrix of grift and despotic activism that drives their political operating system. That is exactly how and why the USAID was so crucial to spread captured taxpayer spoils as NGO salaries for the gender studies grads to play “activist,” so as to inflict their special brand of sadistic power madness over the land — to keep the game going.

Now, USAID is scattered to the winds and all they have left is their installed base of federal judges and the horde of lawfare lawyers who feed them bogus cases to halt the remaining work of Mr. Trump’s executive branch clean-up operation. Remember: Robespierre, leader of the Jacobins in the French Revolution, was a lawyer. Their version of defending “our democracy” in 1793 was the Reign of Terror that sent at least 17,000 political opponents to the guillotine.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is the Democrats’ Robespierre. He is promising his own reign of terror when his party recaptures Congress in the 2026 “midterm” election. Norm Eisen is his chief lawyer and legal strategist. His sole aim is recapture power in order to restore the Democrats’ sadistic regime of thought-control and the money-flows that feed it. That’s where things stand for the moment.
Jamie 'the rat' Raskin (D-MD)

The game now is to goad President Trump into any kind of executive action in defiance of this legal insurrection that would subject him to impeachment after January 2027, when a new Congress is seated, theoretically with a Democratic majority. There are several flaws in the Raskin / Eisen plan-of-action. One is their supposition that the Democratic Party is popular enough to win a Congressional majority in 2026, or that they will enjoy the installed devices of electoral cheating to achieve victory no matter what.

The party is currently blundering wildly in support of obviously insane actions that a vast majority voters oppose, such as stopping the deportation of illegal immigrants, allowing men to compete in women’s sports, and opposing proof of citizenship in federal elections. Which is to say that the voters are onto exactly how crazy and destructive the Democratic Party has become.

The question is: what can be done about this lawfare insurrection. An easy solution would be for Congress to pass a law restricting the power of federal judges to issue orders that affect the nation as a whole outside their own designated districts.

A much simpler remedy would be for the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) to rule in any of a number of cases now on their docket that the lawfare antics of the federal judges amount to interference with an independent executive branch — in short, that the judiciary can’t usurp the executive powers of the President, which include the conduct of foreign policy, the ability to manage personnel in executive agencies, and certain issues around the spending of taxpayer dollars.

A different sort of remedy would be the application by the DOJ of federal statute 18 USC 371, Conspiracy to Defraud the United States against Norm Eisen and his colleagues-in-lawfare Jamie Raskin for attempting to maliciously bury the executive branch in litigation for the purpose of nullifying the executive powers of the president.

The Jacobins of 1793 were mad for blood, too, and they spilled a whole lot of it. By the summer of 1794, the blood was finally spouting out of their own necks. . . and then the Jacobin reign of terror came to a sudden and complete end."

Another Installment of Diogenes' Public Service Educational Series: #348

Note: Your Blog Editrix, Who Loves Each and Everyone of You, believes in the importance of an informed citizenry and prides herself knowing her readers are the most inquisitive, most intelligent and best looking of all the internet because they read DMF.  So she brings you more info that, she seriously doubts, will actually enhance your life. But, you never know. It maybe could save you from long term captivity on a derelict Chinese freighter or Brazilian massage parlor or something. Hey it could happen!
-------------------------------
Did you know you can mail potatoes without a container? This delightful information comes from the USPS's Postal Facts page.  As with coconuts, one may mail potatoes simply by writing the destination on the potato, weighing the potato, then paying the appropriate postage for said potato and it can be shipped as-is.  The potato will then be conveyed thence to its destination by the hardworking men and women of the United States Postal Service.

Let someone know they are special. Send a tater! Or an SOS.

Bonus Knowledge From the Annals of Improbable Research - JULY 9, 1988:
"The maximum weight of the United States Postal Service's small flat-rate box is 70 pounds. Paul Sherman noticed that given that the box is only 75 cubic inches, " it is physically impossible to exceed the 70-pound domestic weight limit for a small flat rate box," even if you filled it with the heaviest element known to man."
What is the cheapest way to get 6,000 concrete blocks and 4,600 bags of cement to a remote Eskimo village? Mail them.
"Sam Krogstad, a construction supplier in Anchorage, sent the individually addressed blocks (postage: $4.33 each) and bags ($4.27) about 700 miles north to Wainwright, where they were to be used to build a small harbor on the Arctic Ocean. Krogstad’s bill for stamps was about $45,000, less than what other shippers would charge. The Postal Service was not pleased about the shipment, which cost about $180,000 to deliver by truck and plane. But the agency could find nothing illegal about Krogstad’s parcels, which weigh a few pounds less than the 70 lb. maximum for regular mail."
You're welcome for the new brain wrinkle.

Your Official Almost Semi-World Famous Irredeemable Big Ass Mid-Week Open Thread.

It's been another wild week on the democrat crazy train of hate and chaos. And with the events of this week so far, it's gonna be even better than watching Bernie Sanders doing a header off the stage at one of his "Lying Commie Sack o' Shit Rally Tour".

So you got somethin' to say now is the time because you never know. Down the road you could get hit in the head with some falling space debris full of blue clad menopausal women astro-nots or something and get a case of brain damage. And who in the hell would want to take you serious with brain damage?

So your Beloved Blog Editrix, Who Loves Each and Everyone of You, suggest y'all get with it and dawn your blogger thongs and let it rip. Remember, Regular Ground Rules Apply. And don't even think about violating. (I have friends in El Salvador)

They Howl in Faux Anguish

First they came for Mahmoud Khalil, and I said nothing because I thought it was a damn good idea. He is a citizen of Syria who came to America to get a college degree. After graduating he stayed in America to be a leader in a group dedicated to supporting Hamas by disrupting normal activities at Columbia University, threatening and harassing Jewish students. Hamas is an organization that deliberately seeks out and murders as many Jewish babies, infants, and toddlers as it can. They came to deport him. Not imprison him; not kill him. They came to give him a free plane ride back to his home country.  Democrats are outraged.

Then they came for Kilmar Garcia (a.k.a. “Maryland Man”), and again I said nothing because it was a damn good idea. Mr. Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador who entered the country illegally. He is also a member of a criminal gang known as MS-13. MS-13 murders people for fun and profit. An earlier attempt to deport Mr. Garcia was delayed by an immigration judge who was concerned that Mr. Garcia would be in danger if returned to El Salvador. This is due to rival gang enemies who wished him harm.   They deported him anyway. (not our monkey, not our circus)  Democrats are outraged again, for reasons unknown.

Next they came for Tren de Aragua gang members. There is no dispute that they (1) entered the country illegally, and (2) make their living by committing crimes. Democrats insist we slow things down to give each member a court hearing of some sort. Democrats are silent as to what evidence such people could possibly present at such a hearing that should prevent their deportation. My silence means approval.

Next they arrested people who vandalized other people’s cars. This time the Democrats sat silent because they quietly approved of the vandalism.

Then they canceled the Social Security numbers of millions of illegal aliens who never should have received them in the first place.  Again the Democrats howled in anguish.

This country now has over 20 million illegal immigrants. This country is currently paying interest on a debt that increases at a rate of over a trillion a year, with the total now standing at over 36 trillion. Cutting waste, fraud, and abuse is the easy part. Deporting illegal immigrant felons is the easy part. Doing the easy stuff will not be enough. There are hard choices ahead, and the Democrats have made it crystal clear they will be of no help whatsoever.

Systemic Considerations

"Whatever else you think is happening in our world, contraction is the reality-based order-of-the-day, and everything else is downstream of that. The world has to get by with less. Nothing is going to fix this for everybody, though any number of schemes for redistributing what’s left will preoccupy the political mojo.
Right now, it’s tariffs, which are an attempt to restore industry ceded to the formerly left-behind people elsewhere in the world — taking back what we used to do. You are correct to wonder if this is even possible. The wish is surely understandable, if a bit fuzzy and over-simplified: to be again a nation of people occupied purposefully in the service of a bright future. Redemption stories are deeply appealing.
Many of us are aware that the hour for this is late. We’ve already lived through our decades of pumping cheap oil out of American ground, extracting the ores, fashioning the metal into I-beams and rails, raising the skyscrapers, laying the asphalt ribbons of highway, and strewing the landscape with split-level houses and strip-malls. Let’s not try a re-run of that.
What have we got to work with? An overly-complex matrix of systems and subsidiary systems operating on the verge of failure at excessive scale. For example, our cities and their asteroid belts of suburbs. The rot is already well-advanced in many of them from their centers outward, and we can see the process underway of strip-mining the remaining assets on-the-ground. Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore. . . all occupy important geographically strategic sites. All are populated by dwindling societies of the cope-less, floundering their way out of existence. The geographies will abide without them. Others will come along and make something of these places’ virtues.
Agri-business is a method for strip-mining the value from what remains of our fruited plains. Everything about it is on an arc of failure, mortgaged to a futureless giantism. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and now that time has passed. The remaining soil itself can probably be rescued with heroic ant-like peasant labor over generations, which is to say a long and rather desperate project with no quick resolution. Even if Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., hadn’t come along to read America the riot act on food, anyone can see that the age of Froot Loops is drawing to a close.
Town and country, what human society at its best was composed of, has got to be rearranged. This is something that MAGA is not talking about. MAGA looks like it is seeking a reenactment of the years 1950 to 1964. That isn’t going to happen. What then? The tech broz propose something like an A-I printed robotic future. They are drunk on their own Stanford University brand Kool-Aid, hallucinating a future that is little more than math dressed in spandex."- J.H. Kunstler

Just for you, because your Blog Editrix loves each and every one of you, another bit of Auditory Soothingness culled from your editrix own personals digs for your Sunday decompression. This day I give you a small taste of a collaboration between two amazing musicians, Jerry Goodman & Jan Hammer. Traversing Narrow Channels

It’s very telling that the White House has been inundated with so many requests for Official Diplomatic Meetings in the last week that they are being forced to prioritize the nations based on the importance of their economic impact. It’s not a question of who is wanting to talk about a new deal since DJT started implementing his Tariff promises, it’s only a question of how much those countries are willing to give up to avoid a trade embargo or other actions. While the unhinged left in this country still likes to underestimate DJT's ability to follow through on his intentions, the rest of the civilized world are beginning to understand that there is now a new order, America has retaken the Mantle and will once again be dictating terms.

But:
"Many countries level tariffs under insidiously Machiavellian conditions such as falsely constructed health and safety barriers, excise and VAT taxes, and currency manipulation. But those complexities should be left for round two of negotiations since for now the public is most concerned with “do onto to others as they would do onto to you” reciprocity.
Getting to zero or identical tariffs with a host of current mercantile trading nations would be an astounding accomplishment and one that the public needs to digest, appreciate, and savor — before in one fell swoop jeopardizing such historic corrections by trying to solve the entire half-century trade quagmire all at once — a task that will lose public support if countries are still tariffed after agreeing to zero or reciprocal tariffs with the U.S." - Victor Davis Hanson

Taibbi on the Recent New York Times Damning Exposé

Biden Lied About Everything, Including Nuclear Risk, During Ukraine Operation.
"The people who quarterbacked the NATO side of the Ukraine war are so pleased with themselves, they can’t keep from boasting about things that will make the average American want to pitchfork the lot of them. Entous describes a tale told “through a secret keyhole” that reveals how America was “woven into the war far more intimately and broadly than previously understood.” (Translation: it was hidden from us.) Sources not only make it clear that the public was lied to on a continuous basis from the outset of the conflict, but they describe how we were lied to, apparently thinking the methods clever. Some are small semantic gambits the idiots wrongly believe exculpated their actions, but the main revelation involves one gigantic, inexcusable deception. From Joe Biden down, they all lied about the risk of World War III.
They risked our lives and our children’s lives, knowingly, repeatedly, and for the worst possible reason: politics. Afraid to admit a mistake, they planned individual excuses while letting bureaucratic inertia expand the conflict. Worse, as was guessed at on this site late last year, the Biden administration after last November’s election increased the risk of global conflict by “expanding the ops box to allow ATACMS and British Storm Shadow strikes into Russia,” in order to “shore up his Ukraine project.”
If you check this “secret history” against contemporaneous statements of American and European leaders, you’ll find the scale of the lies beyond comprehension...."

A Toxic Brand and it's Baneful Disciples

"The reality is, they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. – Governor Greg Abbott of Texas.
Governor Abbott, whatever you think about him, is right on both counts. Democrats are selling their own brand of toxic hate in the streets and in the nation's capital, but sensible citizens aren't buying. We're talking about real, visceral hate here. Not dislike or disapproval, but active hate democrats have become so good at. Generally, when people talk about hate, they mean dislike. If someone says they hate broccoli, they usually mean they dislike it and do not want to eat it. They see broccoli, they leave it on their plate, and forget about it. They do not obsess over broccoli, keeping their hatred for it burning in their minds 24/7.

Real hate is an active emotion, one whose energy consumes those engaging in it. It is the type of thing that leads individuals to obsess over the object of their hatred. Eventually, if kept up long enough, it consumes the hater. We see it here among most Never-Trumpers and the vicious anti-Israel crowd. It leads to compulsive behavior, like daily anti-Trump screeds over trivial (and occasionally nonexistent) failings puffed up to DefCon 1 status. It is an energy sink. It is tedious and boring. Everyone else either tunes it out or points and laughs.

The energy wasted on hate is a major reason Christianity stresses forgiveness. You cannot simultaneously hate and forgive. Forgiveness requires you to put the hate behind you. It frees that energy for use elsewhere. You may dislike what those you love do, but you do not expend effort hating them.

Look at Gaza. The inhabitants have a piece of territory they could turn into a resort that Monaco could envy. They could be rich, peaceful, and healthy, the jewel of the Middle East. Instead, they pour all their resources into destroying their hated neighbor, Israel. As a result, their home is an impoverished rubble heap. Humans almost instinctively know hatred is bad.  Not that we are not capable of it: the whole Lost Cause movement was a product of post-Civil War Confederate hatred of the North.  Hatred consumed the South and left it well behind the rest of the United States. The South did not rise to the prominence it now holds in the US economy until it was willing to put the hatreds engendered by the Civil War behind it.

Nowadays a small Southern town is a far more tolerant place than a Northern university town. I personally can attest to that.

Yet hate is what the Democrats are selling. Hope is what Americans want. Whether you like Trump or dislike him, hope is what Trump is selling, not hate. He cannot be defeated by hating him, only by selling a superior version of hope. But to today's' democrat, Hope is just a worn out campaign slogan.

They Used To Plan an Overthrow in Dark Secret Places

I really don't know where the ideas came to me from. The idea that if you intend to strike the King you best finish him off, else your life could become terribly uncomfortable, at least as long as you had a breath to take. I guess I maybe picked up that silly notion from reading Willie Shakespeare or something.  Another notion is that plotting against the kingdom was usually done in secret.....like commies......by dim candle light. Guess that idea came from watching old film noir spy movies, half awake late at night or something.

Today there is this King, who was under constant coordinated attack from the shadows. They struck at the King unceasingly. The assassins failed. But just made him stronger. The King became embolden, and his enemies are now exposed. Their creepy minions, along with their evil constipated conspirators of the media now stand in the light. Disgraced, unapologetic and with no shame whatsoever.

They now threaten the King once more. Themselves wounded and disliked, they intend to strike again, and make no secret of their intentions. There is no more loyal opposition with them. They only see enemies. Enemies they are willing to take out. Publicly.

The second ugliest person in congress, the foreign born far left, Pramila Jayapal (D-Wa) on MSNBC’s “Ricky Maddow Show” said she was training Americans to help take down a potential “dictatorship” of President Donald Trump.
“It appears that the Trump administration is willing to ignore judicial decisions and so that brings us to you in this room. It brings us to the people that is really, the bulwark, the wall against the crumbling of democracy. We’ve developed a curriculum where we help people understand, how do you go after the pillars of support?
Not necessarily the person at the top but the pillars of support that allow that person to continue to have power? And how do you shift allies from being sort of passive opponents to being active supporters of taking down a dictatorship?”
Well that's an easy question to answer. You lie, project, gaslight, smear, swat and disrupt. The same shit you did anonymously through taxpayer funded NGOs and corrupt judges. But now exposed as the slimy corrupt party you champion, with your back against the wall, your party in shambles, you might take care.

The King has broken no laws, only tested their legality, and when necessary appealed as is his right. And unlike his predecessor, who thumbed his nose at the courts with not a peep from you self proclaimed saviors of Democracy. Strike again at the power and beware he is now stronger than ever.

Shakespeare's royal intrigues served as lessons to some. Tales of film noir commie spies intent on destroying America from within, didn't fare as well.

Your Somewhat Rare Early Mid-Week Official Almost Semi-World Famous Irredeemable Big Ass Open Thread

Your Beloved Blog Editrix, Who Loves Each and Everyone of You, is presently up to her bloomers in unexpected business that was thrown our way.  She simply doesn't have the time at the moment  to present you proper Pulitzer level work of informative informational knowledge that her readers have come to expect.  I hear you laughing.

So reluctantly she gives you the floor. Y'all know the rules. They haven't changed. Behave.

 -------------------//-------------------

This week your glorious exercise in free speech is sponsored by:

The International Association of  Professional People Who Stare at Paintings:

The IAPPWSP has announced the discovery and authentication of the centuries' old rumor of an alternate version, egg tempera on wood, of the famous "Last Supper" fresco by Leo Da Vinci. The rumors from after Da Vinci's death had the mysterious painting titled  "The Last Get Together".

People Who Stare at Paintings found written in De Vinci's own hand on the back of the wood panel the title; "Jack sono Wild e non leccatevi le cianfrusaglie al tavolo, ragazzi"  Roughly translated to english reads "Jacks are are Wild and No Licking your junk at the table, boys."
