Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia  told a crowd at Santa Clara University that the “liberal” Supreme Court was causing the “destruction of our democratic system,” the SF Gate reported on October 29. According to the outspoken associate justice, his colleagues on the high court are creating rights ex nihilo and claiming the Constitution protects those new rights.

Scalia identified the adoption of the concept of the “living Constitution” as the first step down a “slippery slope.” At the end of that slope, Scalia said, was “the right to same-sex marriage.” He even questioned whether the Constitution ever would have been ratified had the Founders known that the document they drafted would have become “whatever a majority of the Supreme Court says it is.”

Rather than conforming the case to the Constitution, a majority of the justices conform the Constitution to the case, voting, Scalia says, “on the basis of what they feel.”

One of the things the justices "feel" is that they have the authority to repeal the will of the people and their elected representatives. For decades, one Congress after the other and Republican and Democratic presidents alike have acceded to the assumption by the Supreme Court of the absolute and unquestionable authority to define every word written in the Constitution and to insert words and rights therein where such was never intended.

Scalia rightly wondered in his Santa Clara speech how much further we can go down this road before our very system is subjugated to the supreme will of the Supreme Court.

Gang Member Arrested In Connection With Black Church Fires

ST. LOUIS • Police have made an arrest in connection with a two-week string of church arsons the Post-Dispatch has learned. The suspect is a black man in his 30s, according to a police source. David Lopez Jackson, 35, was charged Friday afternoon with two in a string of seven church fires this month but authorities say they don't yet know the motive.

The charges, two counts of second-degree arson, list his address as in the 200 block of Presley Road in the Glasgow Village area of unincorporated St. Louis County. He was held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to court documents.

Forensic evidence linked him to the fire at Ebenezer Lutheran Church on Oct. 18, and video of his car near New Life Missionary Baptist Church links him to the fire there on Oct. 17, Police Chief Sam Dotson said.  Investigators are expected to seek criminal charges against him today. Jackson's criminal record dates to 1998, when he was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He has also been charged with domestic assault, burglary, drug-related crimes, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

The string of fires, many of which did minimal damage, drew attention of local and federal investigators. The locations drew speculation of whether it was a hate crime.

The Republican National Committee has pulled out of a planned Feb. 26 debate with NBC News after widespread criticism of this week's CNBC debate from both the party and campaigns. "CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus wrote in a letter to NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack.

"CNBC did screw up, but mostly by failing to keep the toddlers on stage under control and being poorly prepared to deal with brazen lies delivered with a straight face. For what it's worth, I'd also agree that a few of the questions they asked were stupid and/or churlish. Not much more than any other debate, though.

But conservative grievance culture is once again demanding someone's head on a platter. After all, if conservatives look bad on television it's gotta be someone else's fault, right? So it's off with NBC's head.

Jeebus. And these guys claim that they're the steely-eyed folks who can take down Putin and the ayatollah? What a bunch of crybabies."

As far as I can tell, Robert Reich has never held a job in the free market. He is an academic who occasionally works in the government. There is nothing wrong with that. His new book is “Saving Capitalism: For the Many, Not the Few.”

In a recent post online, "The Morality of a $15 Minimum," Reich tried to make the moral case for raising the minimum wage to $30,000 a year, which happen to be slightly above the median wage in America. Actually, using his logic, we should eliminate minimum wage.

After conceding that raising the minimum wage to $30,000 a year will cost people their jobs, Robert Reich wrote: 

"Yet maybe some jobs are worth risking if a strong moral case can be made for a $15 minimum."

 Really? Whose jobs should be lost? Who is so insignificant -- so unworthy in the eyes of this man -- so tiny that they do not deserve a job?

 Because that is what he is saying.

He is a socialist -- oh, hell, a communist -- who reduces people to mere statistics, which makes it easy to say some jobs can be sacrificed for the greater "good."

And yes, liberal is progressive is socialist is communist. They believe in the state -- the government -- over God and man.

George Lucas Donates $10M to USC Film School -

But Only for Blacks and Hispanics

ABC-The USC announced Tuesday that the George Lucas Family Foundation is donating $10 million to its film school to provide financial support to black and Hispanic students. The money will be used to establish the George Lucas Foundation Endowed Student Support Fund for Diversity.

 In a statement, the "Star Wars" director said Hispanic and African-American storytellers are underrepresented in the entertainment industry.

Students will receive the first awards next fall. The endowment is the largest single donation for student support in school history. Lucas, a USC graduate, donated some $175 million to the school in 2006, including millions to rebuild its film school.

This is good to see since the film industry has been dominated so by all those films made Asians and Native Americans these days. Guess George is just as myopic as the rest of the Hollywood left and see only downtrodden black and brown..... or maybe George's White Guilt is been put on display for the Academy?

Cleta Mitchell, who is representing True the Vote, filed an ethics probe against Elijah Cummings on February 6th (2014) with the Office of Congressional Ethics . Last fall, True the Vote started receiving 8 and 9 page letters from Cummings, claiming he was conducting an investigation of their organization as part of the House Oversight Committee. One problem. The House Oversight Committee is only allowed to investigate government agencies. Going after a private citizen is illegal.

Mitchell wants to find out if Cummings is responsible in part or completely for the harassment of Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote. After Cummings launched his “investigation” , Engelbrecht had her business audited twice, her personal taxes once, two visits from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, a surprise visit from OSHA, seven visits from the FBI.

Last week, emails were released to the committee that showed that Cummings was working with Lois Lerner, which is why he attempted to scuttle the investigation into the IRS, immediately as soon as it was announced.

IBT - As Islamic State group fighters pillage their way across swaths of Syria and Iraq, they’ve managed to build up their military capability by commandeering U.S.-made Humvee armored vehicles, including one used Monday in a suicide bombing at an army base near Baghdad that killed at least 45 people. In an interview on Iraqiya TV, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said ISIS gained thousands of Humvees when it overran the northern city of Mosul on June 10 of last year.

"In the collapse of Mosul, we lost a lot of weapons," Abbadi said an interview Sunday, as translated by Al-Jazeera. "We lost 2,300 Humvees in Mosul alone."

The vehicles taken from Mosul would have been worth more than $1 billion if sold new. Late last year, the U.S. State Department approved a deal to sell Iraq 175 M1A1 Abrams tanks, worth $12.4 billion, and 1,000 military Humvees, valued at $579 million. Congress has yet to approve the sale, and some lawmakers have expressed concern about the hardware falling into enemy hands. The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), or military Humvee, is made by Indiana-based heavy vehicle manufacturer AM General. The Humvees stolen from Mosul probably were part of the large amount hardware the U.S. left behind in Iraq after U.S. forces began pulling out in 2009.

Militants like ISIS generally rely on civilian vehicles like Toyota’s Hilux and Land Cruiser trucks. These stolen Humvees are much sturdier and can be used as lead vehicles in attacks like the one that took place on Monday against Iraq security forces at a base near the capital. The attack involved three explosives-laden car bombs escorted by one of the stolen Humvees, according to the BBC.

Donald Trump is baffled as to why his poll numbers are suddenly falling in Iowa in favor of Ben Carson. On Sunday, during an appearance on CBS' Face the Nation on Sunday he said, "I don't understand Iowa because frankly, I just left and we had tremendous crowds and tremendous enthusiasm." Trump told the folks at MSNBC's Morning Joe, "I don't get it," as he plans to head back to Iowa today.

Since October 22nd, Trump's poll numbers against Carson in Iowa have been falling and I think it's pretty obvious why. That day Trump sent out a tweet which read:

"@mygreenhippo #BenCarson is now leading in the #polls in #Iowa. Too much #Monsanto in the #corn creates issues in the brain? #Trump #GOP"

Donald Trump forgot the first rule of politics - don't insult people who you are trying to persuade to vote for you.

Sure, Iowans might have enjoyed it when Trump dissed Jeb Bush, insulted Megyn Kelly and threw Jorge Ramos out of his press conference. But Iowans become the target of Trump's ire they don't like it so much. And yet this surprises Trump? I can see how though. Almost everything Trump has touched has turned to gold for the past four months. If he could get away with insulting Jeb, Kelly and Ramos then he probably he figured he could away with insulting voters in Iowa. My friends this is called hubris.

A secondary reason for Trump's decline is his denigration of Ben Carson's faith. Last Saturday, at a rally in Jacksonville, Florida, Trump said, "I'm Presbyterian. Boy, that's down the middle of the road, folks, in all fairness. I mean, Seventh-day Adventist, I don't know about. I just don't know about."

Now I have some strong reservations about Carson. Nevertheless, if Trump wants to regain top spot in Iowa he will have to better than knock Carson's faith. Of course, if Trump has a strong debate tonight in Colorado, then Carson's lead in Iowa (and nationally) could prove short-lived. But any rebound by Trump could also prove short-lived if he insists on cheaply insulting the people who might vote for him and cheaply insulting his opponents who are well liked by said voters.

Muslims All Butt-hurt Over Walmart Halloween Costume.

Customers shopping online for various items of interest, or just simply looking for something to be offended by, found the latter in the Halloween section of the retailer's website. Nestled among the typical witch and superhero costumes for kids was a costume of a different kind that Arabs found to be in extremely poor taste. 

It's beyond me who would want to dress up as an Arab Sheik or Achmed the mad bomber, but it freakin Halloween. It's a big holiday for kids and extrovert adults who never grew up to get out of themselves for a while.

At some point Muslims must realize that the world doesn’t revolve around them and their inherent hate for anyone and everyone who aren’t followers of Islam. Stores can and should sell whatever they want, whether it offends them or not. Now, only time will tell how Walmart reacts to the insistence that their merchandise is offensive, whether they bow down to a culture that incessantly complains, or cater to the people who shop in their stores and made them a success.
