I Almost Forgot My Black History Month Post....

Great Moments in Black History

A young Barry Soetoro, after missing the ball on the 3rd strike, turns to
the umpire and announces he is changing the rules.

Little Barry's continuing failure to hit the ball proved to be a preview of
much bigger failure in the future.

Note: Eventually, Barry grew up, changed his name and played with other balls.

Olympic Security Issues Alert for Two Possible Suspects

(MFNS) - SOCHI – Just hours before the closing ceremony for the 2014 Sochi  Winter Olympics, Russia has issued an alert for two potential terror suspects.

Fear swept the Olympic village and surrounding area on the Black Sea as details emerged of the possible terrorist attack by the unlikely combination of two suspects, believed to be Jihadist converts, reportedly from Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. The two were identified as Mr. Bullwinkle J. (Abdul) Moose and Rocket J. (Baraq) Squirrel. Russian officials believe their identity may indicate a connection to Canadian separatists.

Russian Security Expert Boris Badenov

A friend of the two, historical expert Mr. Peabody, said that any terrorist connection was preposterous and “indubitably unprovable.” An e-mail from Mr. Squirrel’s attorney merely said, “Hokey Smoke!”

“We thinking this is classic lone-wolf, err– lone-moose type suicide bomber, world’s greatest no-goodnik,” said Boris  Badenov, a Russian expert on security and espionage who announced heightened security measures to catch the pair. He was joined by Colonel Natasha Fatale of the FSB.

“Security is going so well darling,” Ms. Fatale told reporters, before adding, “until we got word of *&%#@*! moose and squirrel!”

News of this development has only aggravated tensions, as Russian security forces are already under intense scrutiny for failing to catch a pair of Chechen terrorists who planted a cartoonishly-large bomb with a long white wick which failed to detonate at a train station in Volgograd.  When asked how Russian intelligence would prevent any additional lapses in security, Mr. Badenov explained “Fearless Leader says any more screw-ups will result in comrade agents being liquidated!” To help enhance security before the closing ceremonies, Russia has reportedly also enlisted the aid of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Obama Serves as Face of ‘Fake’ Viagra in Pakistan

According to the Agence France-Press, the banned pills — illegal in the country — are smuggled across the country's border with Afghanistan. Fake pills have been found being sold in the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar. Four tablets of the knockoff Viagra are sold for $1.
The package apparently calls Barack Obama “a symbol of power and virility” and “America superman.
Clearly they've never seen him throw a baseball.

Hollywood Heist

Subsidies to the Entertainment Industry Continue to Fleece Taxpayers

We all now how well the movie moguls, directors and their over paid actors live. The likes of Julia Roberts, Brat Pitt, George Clooney regularly make 20 Million per picture. Money flows like water and no expense is spared. Movie tickets continue to rise, but you may be helping pay these millions to the great pretenders, even if you don't see their work.

Consider this:
In Louisiana, which offers some of the most lucrative tax giveaways to Hollywood, the Legislative Auditor’s Office reported that the subsidies cost the state $170 million in lost tax revenue in a single year. By one estimate, the state is handing $70,000 per episode to the cast of Duck Dynasty – all while pleading poverty to justify deep cuts to public health care programs and to retirement benefits for police officers, firefighters and teachers.

Last week, 59 California state legislators sponsoring a bill to increase tax credits to the film and television industry. Call it yet another Hollywood heist, this one engineered with a double-shot of chutzpah.

Consider the context of this latest proposal. For one thing it is being championed by state lawmakers even though one of their own is right now embroiled in an FBI corruption investigation surrounding – you guessed it! – tax subsidies for the entertainment industry. According to court documents, that probe involved law enforcement officials posing as film executives, allegedly bribing a powerful California state senator to expand tax subsidies for their movie project.

The case generated big headlines only weeks after a joint New York Daily News/PIRG investigation uncovered a legalized bribery scandal on the opposite coast. There in New York, the newspaper reported that the “film and television industry has lavished Albany pols with more than $900,000 in campaign donations…while were pushing to expand a production tax credit program” for the industry. And that scandal was preceded by other film-subsidy-related corruption scandals in Iowa, Massachusetts and Louisiana.

Individual examples among the 45 states that offer film subsidies tell that larger story.

FCC Commisioner Is Daughter Of Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC)

The daughter of House Rep James Clyburn was appointed by Obama is the leading advocate for monitoring newsrooms for their content.

“Advocates promote the project with Obama-esque rhetoric. “This study begins the charting of a course to a more effective delivery of necessary information to all citizens,” said FCC commissioner Mignon Clyburn in 2012. Clyburn, daughter of powerful House Democratic Rep. James Clyburn, was appointed to the FCC by President Obama and served as acting chair for part of last year. The FCC, Clyburn said, “must emphatically insist that we leave no American behind when it comes to meeting the needs of those in varied and vibrant communities of our nation — be they native born, immigrant, disabled, non-English speaking, low-income, or other.” (The FCC decided to test the program with a trial run in Ms. Clyburn’s home state, South Carolina.)
Cronyism at its finest. Any questions?
Her bio reads she ran a “newspaper” and worked as a community organizer. Here is the newspaper:
‘“Clyburn has been a virtual one-woman show behind The Coastal Times, editing, selling ads and distributing one of two black newspapers in the Charleston area,” reported The Post and Courierwhen Clyburn left for the PSC. The Coastal Times, had a circulation of about 5,500 free and paid copies, mostly to black churches, according to Behre of The Post and Courier. “I don’t think it was a big money maker or a big enough operation to where she could sell it to another publisher,” Behre says.
That screams qualified don’t it. I feel better now.
