Dems Count on Media to Muddy The Waters Leading into Their Impeachment Gamble

Journalists use the tool of "anonymous sources" to push out stories of dubious repute, to push agendas, and do the bidding of their chosen political party. They hide behind the first amendment and defend the practice by saying it’s the only way you can get people to talk. But there are two major problems with this:

First, by definition a person who needs anonymity to be able to talk is probably not supposed to be talking, which means he or she is betraying someone else’s trust or privacy by doing so. And second, if we don’t know who the journalist’s source is then we’re left to assess the credibility of the report based on how much we trust the journalist, which they have made hard to do.

That’s not how this is supposed to work and with the whistleblower complaint concerning Ukraine, we’ve got that same problem, but an even more severe case of it. Not only do we not know who the whistleblower’s sources are, we don’t even know who the whistleblower is. So we’re being asked to trust second-hand reports from anonymous sources, conveyed to us by a “whistleblower” who is himself anonymous, and admits to not having witnessed any of what he’s complaining about.

And is it more than a coincidence that this complaint surfaced and was directed to the House Intelligence Committee just after Adam Schiff expressed numerous complaints in August 2019 accusing DJT of abusing aid to Ukraine to hurt Joe Biden. This includes an August 28 tweet that closely resembled the whistleblowing complaint.

Is it any surprise, then, that key details of the whistleblower’s story are falling apart? We already know there are details of the whistleblower’s complaint that are directly contradicted by the call transcript, such as Trump demanding a quid pro quo and Trump asking about Biden eight times. Now we know the whistleblower got at least some of the call participants wrong.  Is anyone starting to wonder if the whistleblower is Christopher Steele? Because this is starting to sound about as accurate as his notorious dossier.

The media will continue to dissect every syllable of every statement going forward and read some kind of devious intention to every word. Known unreliable media outlets will continue to introduce unsubstantiated rumors and old unproven unsourced news stories into the news cycle and never ending anti-Trump panel discussions to be referenced in later committee hearings as truth, dems in turn feed media talking points. Rinse and repeat. You can also expect a lot of want-to-be Woodward & Bernsteins "throwing crap out to see if anyone denies it" type journalism. This is the basis on which House Democrats presume to impeach the president, with media as their bullhorn.

UPDATE: Anyone who watched any 30 min block of CNN today saw the above paragraph illustrated para excellence.....

Why the Democrats Have Gone Insane

Impeach! Impeach, they say! If only he were Buckingham, they would take off his head as well. Trump has become the Democrats' version of Richard III, if he wasn't already.

Why have the Democrats, to put it bluntly, gone berserk? Why are they risking a backlash of cosmic proportions (other than appeasing their psychotically-inflamed base, of course)? One, distraction. They live in absolute fear of the coming revelations about the Russia probe, from Inspector General Horowitz but even more from the DOJ's John Durham, who can actually put people in jail. The Dems know -- if they have a brain (and a few do) -- these revelations are likely to point up the line at the leaders of the Democratic Party all the way to President Obama. They were all involved to one degree or another with illegally spying on or undermining Trump and his administration and supporters before and after the election. The extent of this we are only beginning to understand. To put it mildly, not good.

Whether you call this treason is up to you, but you can be sure Middle America (i. e. those elusive independent voters) will not appreciate it. But there's something worse -- and Pelosi's knows it. The only hope for Democrats to defeat Trump is, remote and quixotic as it may be, impeachment. In the midst of the current brouhaha, Joe Biden -- their great (alas white male) hope -- is being exposed as not just a senile plagiarist, but a senile, corrupt plagiarist with a freaky family out of a Southern gothic novel with tentacles reaching into China and Ukraine. Again, not good. Unfortunately, the rest of the Dems have tacked so far to the left that they wouldn't be able to win an election in Shenyang. - Roger Simon

 Trump Is Guilty So We Must Find The Evidence

Media is presently giddy and orgasmic......  

The rationale is probably as silly as anything Robert Mueller ever investigated. It is made even more silly by the fact that attempting to impeach Trump for trying to stop corruption and to champion the rule of law will one of the hardest concepts imaginable to sell to about 80% of America.  Particularly when the evidence on Hunter Biden and good ol’ Dad starts coming out.

I’m not sure that the politics of this has been completely thought through. It seems to me that impeachment has a logic all its own and once unleashed is hardly manageable. The impeachment inquiry would undoubtedly dominate the Democrat primary and deprive the Democrats of an opportunity to talk about anything else. Once the impeachment inquiry gets underway, there is a less than zero probability that a hyper-partisan House Judiciary Committee doesn’t vote out articles of impeachment.

That, then, puts Pelosi in the position of either supporting an impeachment hearing in the midst of an election season…letting Trump dominate the news every day and letting the public see just how batshit crazy the Democrats are…or of quashing the entire thing and depressing Democrat turnout. This is their Hail-Mary play to stop a 2nd term. So, it doesn't actually matter if he's successfully impeached or not in the end. It's about the timing and blanketing the entire election cycle with time consuming impeachment talk.

That the Democrats aren’t even waiting to view the leaker’s complaint or the transcript of the call before screaming for impeachment doesn’t inspire confidence in their accusations. They’re gambling big here. The nation is witch-hunt weary and polls show impeachment not popular.
