DC Rally for Refugees a Big Dud

Lackluster Acts Perform for an Audience of 300.

A pro-refugee rally was held at the Washington Monument at the National Mall on Sunday. “DC Rally 4 Refugees” was organized by the Tides Foundation with the help of many different groups, including the usual suspects: CODEPINK, The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Amnesty International, and the Human Rights Campaign. Speaker after speaker walked on stage to deliver the usual bumf about why we must open our borders. Sprinkled in with the academics and professional activists were a few artists reciting “poetry” and singing protest songs.

The rally’s official color was orange–the color of many life vests–and the rally’s symbol was a stylized life vest. Attendees and speakers had been asked to wear orange in solidarity with refugees. As with many gatherings, the speakers were largely an occasion for like-minded people to socialize with each other. The signs and costumes in the audience were more interesting than the presentations.

Rally attendees did their best to keep the anti-immigration protesters out of sight by creating a human wall around them. The irony was not lost on me. And what any leftist goofball rally these days be with a little self loathing white hate, eh?

Math is Hard for Stupid people

The signs were condescending, the speakers incoherent, and the organizations backing it all subversive, but there is good news: attendance was low. For a rally about one of the Left’s favorite topics, launched by groups with such deep pockets, located on the National Mall, and held on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., I thought thousands would show up, but there could not have been more than 300 people. The event was planned well in advance too–I first heard about it two weeks ago–and the organizers even made special t-shirts for the event.

Donald Trump announces rallies just one day in advance, and attracts thousands. If that isn’t sign for hope, I don’t know what is.

Mainstream Media Admits It May “Never Recover” from 2016 Election

AntiMedia - In a revealing statement that flew largely under the radar earlier this month, members of the mainstream media admitted it would never recover from its irresponsible and negligent coverage of the 2016 presidential election. A recent column published in the New York Post referred to the media’s reporting as “the complete collapse of American journalism as we know it.”

In his article for the Post, Fox News contributor Michael Goodwin discussed the media’s pro-Clinton bias – one recognized by supporters of virtually every other presidential candidate, from Bernie Sanders to Jill Stein to Gary Johnson and, of course, Donald Trump. Even Americans who don’t necessarily have a horse in the 2016 race notice the slant.
“By torching its remaining credibility in service of Clinton,” Goodwin wrote, “the mainstream media’s reputations will likely never recover, nor will the standards. No future producer, editor, reporter or anchor can be expected to meet a test of fairness when that standard has been trashed in such willful and blatant fashion.”
Indeed, he is correct in this regard. The Clinton machine has effectively infiltrated corporate media. Last year, the Intercept reported MSNBC failed to disclose that multiple pundits who spoke favorably about Clinton were actually employees of a consulting firm hired by her campaign. More recently, embarrassing DNC leaks released in July revealed DNC officials attempted to craft narratives painting Sanders in a negative light to undermine his campaign. They also organized a secret fundraiser with the Washington Post and were careful to keep it under the radar.

There is no question the mainstream media has sided with the political establishment in its decision to craft narratives that paint Clinton as a competent leader who is the only option in the face of a catastrophic Trump presidency. Indeed, in spite of Clinton’s lack of popularity among the general population, the media continues to suggest she is the only thing standing between America and its descent into fascism.

While the degree of negative press Trump has received is undeniably staggering, Goodwin failed to recognize — at least in this article — that like Clinton, Trump is wildly unpopular and  the mainstream media is undoubtedly fervent in their coverage of Trump.  Therein lies the problem: rarely does the mainstream media devote as much time to questioning Hillary Clinton, her rhetoric, and her policies.

From the corporate media’s flagrantly irresponsible coverage of the Iraq War during the Bush years to the media’s ongoing blackouts of relevant news in favor of more superficial, inconsequential stories, Goodwin’s assertion that 2016 is the year American journalism died is as factual as the content churned out by Fox News.

Playing the 'Race' Card Early

It was well beyond question Hillary Clinton would play the race card. The only issue was when. Modern Progtards are born without forearms, which affords them the ability to have so many such cards up their sleeves. Playing their ace card this early and this forcefully does not demonstrate strength on Hillary's part. It's clearly a flashing neon testament to her insecurity and weakness. Other than a lack of a pair of 'nads', she has nothing else to run on.

The racist cries are usually saved for closer to the election, when polls tighten and Democrats worry about turnout. A little fear mongering goes a long way to motivate the otherwise uninterested and Low-Fo voters. That it comes in August reeks of desperation, an aroma permeating the Clinton campaign in recent weeks.

This election is months ahead of schedule when it comes to progressives' panic level. The next 2 1/2 months either will be something to behold or the ugliest invective-filled nightmare this country has ever seen.

Obama: Mosquitoes Remain Non-Partisan

"Most infected people don’t show any symptoms. But the disease can cause brain defects and other serious problems. There is no such thing as a Republican position on Zika or Democrat position on Zika because these mosquitoes bite everyone. I agree." - President's Weekly Address
Once again we find proof of the strength of America. While tittering on the edge, America has indeed actually survived intact the purposefully inept 8 year rein of our leisure oriented Fearless Leader and his merry band of Intellectually Challenged Affirmative Action Ivy leaguers.

Moving Headlong Toward The Dark Ages

Baltimore to Ignore Behavior and Homework in School Grading

The coming dark age: The Baltimore school system this week revealed that it is ordering its teachers to ignore student behavior and not count homework in determining school grades. And what could be worse?
The school system also now recommends that teachers do not factor homework into overall grades or give students marks below 50%. Community Superintendent for Zone 2 George Roberts says low marks can damage a student’s feeling of self-potential. “The power of the zero is extremely powerful and frankly hurtful to a student,” Roberts said. “If a child gets a zero on an assignment, it’s that much harder for the child to come out of.”

What Baltimore and America is instead going to get is badly behaved students who simply don’t know anything.  Modern bought and paid for political slaves of dependency. Keep them fed and moneyed and keep them plentiful, and make sure they get dumber and dumber. If they ever wake up it will be the villagers with torches and pitch forks time.

But what the Hey? As we have all learned, ya don't have to be very smart to became a millionaire rap artist now do ya?

The Bizarre Media Blackout Of Hacked George Soros Documents

The mainstream press continues to ignored the leak of thousands of eye-opening documents that expose the Billionaire Puppetmaster's far-flung devious efforts to push his leftist views in the U.S. and abroad.

IBD- Leaked documents released a few days ago provide juicy insider details of how a fabulously rich businessman has been using his money to influence elections in Europe, underwrite an extremist group, target U.S. citizens who disagreed with him, dictate foreign policy, and try to sway a Supreme Court ruling, among other things. Pretty compelling stuff, right? Not if it involves leftist billionaire George Soros. In this case, the mainstream press couldn't care less.

Saturday, more than 2,500 documents going back to 2008 that it pilfered from Soros' Open Society Foundations' servers and leaked to the Internet. The mainstream media have shown zero interest in this gold mine of information.

The leaked documents show how Soros' far-flung international organizations attempted to manipulate Europe's 2014 elections. The "List of European Elections 2014 Projects" details over 90 Soros efforts he had under way that year.

The documents reveal that Soros has poured nearly $4 million into anti-Israel groups, with a goal of "challenging Israel's racist and anti-democratic policies." Here at home, they show that Soros proposed paying the Center for American Politics $200,000 to conduct a smear campaign against conservative activists.

Recently an October 2015 document came to light showing that Soros' Open Society U.S. Programs had donated $650,000 to "invest in technical assistance and support for the groups at the core of the burgeoning #BlackLivesMatter movement." Since then, several BLM protests have turned violent. That same document details how this group successfully used its "extensive networks" to pressure the Obama administration into increasing the number of refugees it would take to 100,000, despite concerns that Islamic terrorists could use the refugee program to infiltrate the U.S.

A separate memo details how Soros tried to use his clout to sway Supreme Court justices into approving President Obama's unilateral effort to rewrite immigration law. This year alone, Soros has given $7 million to the Clinton-supporting Priorities USA super-PAC, and a total of $25 million to support Democrats and their causes.

Anyone with this much power and influence demands close media scrutiny. Particularly when he has extremely close ties to the would-be next president of the United States.

Barack Does Baton Rouge

Dorkus Maximus Surveys East Baton Rouge Parish

Our semi-retired president wrapped up a 16-day vacation on Martha's Vineyard  this weekend , and has received criticism for participating in leisurely activities like smoking Marlboros and playing golf while Louisiana contends with the devastation brought about by heavy rain, loss of life and historic flooding.

White House officials have pushed back on those who have compared it to former President George W. Bush's reaction to Hurricane Katrina, countering critics by pointing out Obama received regular updates on the situation between golf outings throughout the week. But he did sent one of his houseboys, Jeh Johnson, down to keep an eye on things, only long after the Louisiana National Guard and Cajun Navy had swung into full action and help and needed supplies starting pouring in from all over the state.

But it's mighty good of you to drop by today and say a few words and take a photo or two  hugging a devastated resident for the media and your scrapbook......

White House Denies Rumors Of Zika Outbreak on Martha’s Vineyard

MFNS- The White House moved quickly to squelch growing rumors of a possible Zika virus outbreak on Martha’s Vineyard Sunday evening. The rumors were sparked by the shocking appearance of the President and First Lady when they returned from their annual summer vacation on the island.

Pictures from the press pool seems to indicate that something is very wrong.

This Guy Thinks He Knows How to Save America From Donald Trump

Former Nirvana Bassist Krist Novoselic

Krist Novoselic is easily one of the luckiest people in music history. Despite having no discernible talent, he played bass for multi-platinum grunge band Nirvana, getting rich off of Kurt Cobain’s heroin laced musical(?)vision and Dave Grohl’s chops. Novoselic is hoping Lady Luck will smile upon him again in ridding the world of Donald Trump. The marginal musician has teamed up with two loser politicians for a really lame plan to destroy the Trump Monster.
Along with ousted US Rep. Bob Inglis and failed Congressman Brian Baird, Novoselic has formed 3 American Questions. The idea is for people to ask the presidential candidates, especially Trump, 3 simple questions and when they see how bad his answers are, they will stop supporting him.
What are those 3 questions?
1. What specific actions will you take, and what will you ask the American people to do to reverse global climate change and ocean acidification?
2. What specific actions will you take, and what will you ask the American people to do to fix the growing debt of the United States?
3. What specific actions will you take during your campaign and your time in office, and what will you ask the American people to do to help restore the respect and confidence of the American people in their elected government?
I told you it was lame. According to The Huffington Post, putting these 3 questions to Trump will expose him as a fraud and turn his supporters away, paving the way for a Hillary Clinton coronation. There are several problems with this however.
First, this plan assumes that global warming, the national debt, and campaign finance reform are the things American voters care about the most. As it turns out, jobs, the economy, and national security are the top three issues. Global warming is so far down the list it’s as important to voters as the existence of Big Foot.
The second problem is, Trump actually believes in man-made global warming. He also has a significant plan to reduce the national debt. And let’s not forget that his presidential campaign is mostly self-financed; there are no big money donors for him. These 3 questions are hardly “gotcha” opportunities against Trump.
Hillary, on the other hand, would get slammed by these questions.  While Hillary believes in man-made global warming, she doesn’t understand it. Beyond that, all of the proposals she has would raise taxes, kill jobs, and add substantially to the national debt. And you want to talk about big money in politics; she is the poster child for political corruption.
If it were possible to get the candidates to answer these 3 questions honestly,  say in a debate,   and people actually gave a shit about the answers, it is Hillary Clinton who would be the one to fall flat. Not Donald Trump.

BLM: Police Handing Out Free Ice Cream Part of a Genocidal Plot.

A Cold Tool of Genocide: Vanilla Ice Cream!
The Black Lives Matter movement apparently doesn’t like free ice cream. And according to their website, they will be skipping over the freebies. In a recent article released on their website, the Black Lives Matter movement has called for a refusal in accepting the “ice cream handouts”. Their rhetoric is calling these community policing methods, “feel-good propaganda.” This is in spite of the fact that they bring about positive changes and build trust between police and their communities.
“Policing and the system under which police work exists is bound to the enslavement, degradation, and murder of Black people and was never meant to protect us, but instead to exploit our bodies and labor to fill prisons and bolster capitalism”.
They continue in a tirade that there is “overwhelming evidence that [black people] are indeed unfairly policed and killed”, even claiming that America has a “killer cop problem”.
As offensive as this bombastic writing is, possibly the most shocking allegation is that police do not “regard people as fully human”. That pitiful assertion leads to them concluding that the current system of policing needs to be defunded and thrown away in lieu of an “alternative systems for security and accountability.”
I took special notice of their emphasis on the word “police” and “policing” as it related to what they claim to be an oppressive system; and then later the lack thereof of the word “policing” in their solution. Rather they propose a disempowered system of security and accountability.
As we watch the most recent violence, rioting, looting, and pyromania in Milwaukee – one important truth is being revealed: With the Black Lives Matter supporters trying to destroy yet another American city, their system of security and accountability only demonstrates a violent, self-indulgent, excuse to avoid responsibility and blame others for everything wrong in their life.
This movement began under false pretenses and ignorance, if not just a downright refusal to accept facts. A polluted spring will never produce clean water. Thus, we should not be surprised that their current pandering and activity is any more factual or logical than it was from its origin...."

Flirting with Recession:

"She's a real nowhere girl. Sitting in her nowhere world. Making all her nowhere plans for nobody.  She's trying so fervently to come up with at least one new, inspiring idea to jump-start a moribund economy and help the financially stressed-out middle class. She's like the economics professor in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off': 'Anyone? Anyone?' But the left's idea cupboard is pitifully empty. They literally, not figuratively, have nothing to offer except tax, spend, spin and then hit the button again.....
"The Tax Foundation says that the Clinton tax and economic plan will actually reduce jobs by 300,000 and subtract from our already weakling economic growth rate. That means we will be flirting with recession.

"In short, this nowhere girl has a nowhere plan -- for nobody." Stephen Moore, Freedom Works

It's Okay Obama, We Got This......

After a quick overnight trip with friends to deliver some needed local donations of supplies to sheltered evacuees in Baton Rouge,  I couldn't but help have some thoughts about how we are in this country today.

I'm actually glad to see our fearless leader not interrupt his semi-retirement and taxpayer funded vacation to Martha's Vineyard by doing a silly Air Force One flyover of the devastated flood areas of South Louisiana, forcing his loving media to embarrassed him by writing  how uncaring and inept he is as a leader like they did George Bush after Katrina. And I'm glad to see his media, not buzzing about like mosquitoes sticking microphones in every poor black persons face that has lost their whole world. After-all, this time there is no political party to try and damage, and they really wouldn't want to harm the chances of Baton Rouge electing there first Black female mayor.

And because I think Obama knows there are other more important events for the media to report these days, like two gay Olympic divers getting engaged on the beach in Rio, Adele performing at the Superbowl and being self-conscious about dancing, and the American people's absolutely need to know the stupid-thing-of-the day that Trump said as well as the sketchy-detail-of-the-day coming out about Ma Clinton, there is really no reason to show concern.

I cannot even imagine the anxiety of people looking at South Louisiana from a far and seeing the dark black vats of jambalaya, the deep silver pots of bubbling gumbo, and even three inches of red meat smoking on a wood burning grill as we feed our friends, and our crazy neighbor who thinks their cat is the reincarnation of a former president. The media would find we pack it in little styrofoam containers with a roll and walk it down the street. We'll force you to make a to-go plate even though you swear you have enough already.

The media would certainly find the scruffy fisherman who went out of his way to pull people from the tops of houses, loaded them in, and then braved murky river water to deliver them to safety.

They would find the woman who's been at Celtic Studios all day, lifting cases of water, escorting elderly off of the helicopters that are landing nearby, carefully keeping track of makeshift spreadsheets so that word can get out about who is there...and who's not, and still finds time to hold a hand of a teenager who's lost everything to the water.

You'd be invited into homes that only have a sliver of floor for another air mattress to spare, and have to stand while you eat your dinner and someone will try to take your hand while grace is being said. Working together. Self-Sacrifice. Love. Forgiveness. Healing. Service. Prayer. Friendship. These aren't things that the mass media seemingly wants us as Americans to embrace.

Sometimes I watch the TV considering your perspective, and I can't help but giving in momentarily to the despair. Violence. Divisiveness. Vanity. Me-first. It's everywhere. It's everywhere because you put it there.

You shouldn't come here because you'll find a people at the very end of their ropes extending their hands to their neighbor. You shouldn't come here because you'll find tireless spirits ready to save a stranger regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, OR SEC affiliation. You'd find shelters full of despondent yet grateful people who are coming to grips with the fact that their material world is gone, but the things that matter remain and cannot be washed away by the ferocity of nature.

You'd find rows of 4x4 pickup trucks with boats being trailed behind them headed to the once busy city streets to conduct rescue not because of compensation and not because of order by the government, but because of the unspoken creed that holds Louisiana together as something more than just people living near each other. And America might just see we are not the poor, backward southern Red State you like to portray us to be to the country, with our hands out begging for federal handouts and unable to care for ourselves without.

You see, I learned very early after settling in Louisiana before Katrina, that if you live for long here, you are not FROM Louisiana, your are OF Louisiana.

North Korea Continues to Dominate Olympic Gold

via the Tweeter

The Punch and Judy of Global Plantation Slavery

Found within the WikiLeaks’ Hillary Clinton email archive is an email with the subject ‘Unrest in Albania,’ in which Soros makes clear to Clinton that “two things need to be done urgently.” He then directs the Secretary of State to “bring the full weight of the international community to bear on Prime Minister Berisha” and “appoint a senior European official as mediator.” Revealing the influence he wields within the corridors of power, Soros then provides Secretary of State Clinton with three names from which to choose. Unsurprisingly, Clinton acquiesced and chose one of the officials recommended by Soros — Miroslav Lajcak.

Tellingly, Soros has committed $25 million dollars to the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, which, per standard Clinton operating procedure, is indicative of the symbiotic relationship of favors between the billionaire and his political puppets.

With Clinton’s relationship with Soros on full display – taking donations and orders – Americans can be virtually certain that big money donations to the Clintons and their Clinton Foundation equate to official political favors from the U.S. government.

Who’s Behind This Mysterious Website?

The website LongRoom hosts a polling page that purports to “remove the bias in the polls,” which mostly has the effect of showing Donald Trump up in the presidential race, though most polls show Hillary Clinton leading him by a single-digit margin. The site just popped up with polls out of nowhere and the site’s “staff” has all the appearance of being fictitious.

Websites with excellent records of forecasting everything from sports to politics like "FiveThirtyEight" polls-only forecast, which consolidates hundreds of polls, show Clinton winning the popular vote 48.9 percent to 41.5 percent if the election was held today. The forecast gives her an 86.3 percent chance of winning the election right now. According to the most recent check-in with LongRoom, Trump is leading Clinton by 0.6 percentage points. The site’s methodology page assures readers that “it is a mathematical certainty, that as the election approaches, all of the polls will begin to match the polls here on LongRoom.”

That's comforting and good to know. But there are questions.

Here's 538's take on all this:

“LongRoom claims to “unbias” the polls using “actual state voter registration data from the Secretary of State or Election Division of each state.” The website contends that almost every public poll is biased in favor of Clinton. Think about what that means: The website is saying that a large number of honest professional pollsters who make their living trying to provide accurate information — and have a good record of doing so — are all deliberately biasing the polls and aren’t correcting for it.
I’d also point out that election offices from different states collect different data. Some states don’t have party registration; other states don’t collect data on a person’s race; some states collect data on neither. There are some companies that try to fill in missing data for each state, though it costs a lot to get that data. Isn’t it more plausible the people who get paid to know what they are doing are right, while some anonymous website on the internet with unclear methodology is wrong?”
In 2012, Dean Chambers did much the same thing, “unskewing” the polls that correctly showed Mitt Romney losing, only to admit after the election that he’d been misguided in his efforts — Chambers’s name was out in the press and to his credit, he publicly took stock of his mistakes after the fact. But LongRoom and whoever runs it has gone out of its way to obfuscate its identity. The site has an “about us” page which lists four people associated with the site, but they each seem to be without any semblance of an online paper trail, an odd thing in the age of the internet.
“Michael Ellis,” the man listed as LongRoom’s managing editor, is described in only the vaguest of terms as “an Internet Executive with over 23 years of experience, including general management of mid to large sized publications. He has been involved with internet community management his entire career.” The three other staff members have similarly indistinct bios, and rather than photographed headshots, the staff is depicted in sketches. None of the staff appears to have Twitter accounts, let alone follow the @LongRoomNews account. Searches for the staff on other social networking sites did not lead anywhere and there is no listed point of contact for any of the LongRoom staff members anywhere on the site. FiveThirtyEight reached out to the site’s only point of contact for comment — a support email address — and did not hear back. A public records search for LongRoom yielded no results for the business.
But an analysis of the site’s IP address showed that in April 2015, LongRoom switched its registration to a domain that for a fee, allows registrants to keep their names private — Domains By Proxy, LLC. The last name associated with the website, as recently as January 2015, is Fred Waid, who listed the site’s associated organization as “American Separatist” based out of New Mexico.
My first thought when I saw the site a couple of days ago was that it was a college project, like one used as research for a dissertation. Now I'm not so sure.

90 Days Out, It's Time To Get Back on Message

by DAVID CATRON
What did the political careers of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush have in common? Many observers would respond to this question by shouting, “Absolutely nothing!” These people would be wrong. In reality, the careers of Reagan and Bush shared at least three important characteristics. They were both viciously assaulted by the “news” media on a daily basis. Neither allowed these transparently partisan attacks to distract them from the core messages of their campaigns. And, not coincidentally, they are the only Republicans who have served two full terms as President since Dwight Eisenhower left office.
There’s a lesson here, if Donald Trump is able to absorb it. Media bias in favor of Democrats is a fact of life. This is blindingly obvious to most serious observers of American politics, and it has been repeatedly confirmed by serious studies of journalistic trends. It is also an utter waste of time for a GOP presidential nominee to whine about it. Complaining about the partisan press is like complaining about the weather. It accomplishes nothing. Yet, instead of emulating the successful strategies of Reagan and Bush, Donald Trump has allowed himself to be tricked into squandering increasingly valuable campaign time bellyaching about media bias.
At his rallies, where he should be contrasting his positive vision for America with the dystopian nightmare into which Hillary Clinton’s distorted worldview will transform the nation, he moans about the media. Jeffrey Lord, who highlights the disgraceful mendacity of the media at NewsBusters, quotes one of these rants. “CNN is like all Trump all the time. All Trump all the time. You walk out of an interview and you say, ‘that was a good interview’ and then you get killed for the rest of the weekend. So they are so biased toward Crooked Hillary. You know they call it: CNN, Clinton News Network.” OK, but the election is not about CNN.
Even more self-defeating than Trump’s time-consuming digressions about the partisan press during his rallies is the opportunity he is missing in social media. Neither Reagan nor Bush possessed anything like the direct access to voters that he enjoys on Facebook and Twitter. He should be using his enormous social media presence to highlight his strengths and Clinton’s weaknesses. Instead, he uses it to preach to the choir. Saturday evening, for example, he fired off this querulous tweet: “I am not just running against Crooked Hillary Clinton, I am running against the very dishonest and totally biased media — but I will win!”
In reality he is almost certainly going to lose if he doesn’t stop mumping about media bias and devote the next 90 days to convincing skeptical voters that he can be trusted with the keys to the White House. And, regardless of wishful thinking about an imaginary “monster vote” by pundits who admit that they aren’t polling experts, he is in real trouble.
What no Republican needs to do, however, is allow transparent media bias to distract him from the core message of his campaign. It is quite possible to beat the press at its own game.

To Liberals, Diversity Has Become Just Another Affirmative Action Program

Diversity is a thread that runs deep in the makeup of America. People of all colors and backgrounds have been given the opportunity thrive, to become successful and prosper. But like everything they clutch, liberals now insist on turning our natural self propelled natural diversity into a Affirmative Action Program.

CNN Host Called For U.S. Flag Bearer at Olympics
to Step Aside for Muslim Fencer

PJM - The host of the CNN show "United Shades of America" called on Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, to forgo the honor of carrying the American flag at the head of the American delegation and allow a Muslim female fencer to carry it instead.

Kamau Bell penned a column on the CNN website saying that Phelps should withdraw in the name of "diversity."

“What I’m trying to say is that as far as America is concerned, you are a golden boy … literally. You getting the opportunity to carry the flag is like Michael Jordan getting a free pair of Nike sneakers.
You are both the living embodiment of the “honor” you are getting.
To put it another way, in the Make-Your-Own-Ice-Cream-Sundae-Bar of life, your sundae is lousy with hot fudge, butterscotch, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, extra scoops of ice cream, and so many Maraschino cherries that 5-year-old kids with mouthfuls of Maraschino cherries yell as you pass by, “THAT’S TOO MANY CHERRIES!”
And that’s why I would be proud of you for giving up your position to Ibtihaj Muhammad. Muhammad carrying the flag would be much bigger than your one moment.
It would be a symbol for our country in this moment when we are mostly known for one of the most contentious, controversial, scandal-ridden, hateful, xenophobic, jingoistic, and just generally unlikeable presidential elections in recent memory. This is at a time when we could use some more symbols of unity and togetherness.
Muhammad carrying the flag would be nearly a one-stop inclusion shop. Muhammad is an African-American, hijab-wearing Muslim woman who is also a world class fencer. Those are all groups that could always use some more love, acceptance, and respect from this country. (And yes, I'm including fencers in this group.)
If (when) Muhammad carries the flag, that moment (and Muhammad herself) would grow into legend. We're talking bigger than just the Olympics.
Trying to unravel the skein of idiocy that runs through the entire article is a task for which I'm not suited.

But how much fun would that be?
